Box Score West Haven, CT - The Post University football team lost a 67-20 game to the University of New Haven on Saturday afternoon in a road contest.
After conceding 14 points in the first, the Eagles got on the board on a blocked punt from
Jameer Campbell that
Talik Birton returned for a 37 yard touchdown to make it a 14-7 game.
The Eagles added another touchdown on a 38 yard touchdown pass from
Broghean McGovern To
Joshua Tracey as the Chargers went into the half leading 41-14.
The defense added another touchdown in the fourth for the final score of the game on a fumble return for a touchdown by
Regan Cherry.
New Haven got on the board early in the first with touchdown runs from quarterback Connor Degenhardt and Christopher Ais. Dev Holmes caught the first of his two touchdown passes to make it a 21-7 game at the end of the first quarter. He also added an 89 yard touchdown reception in the second. Hunter Cobb had two touchdown runs in the third, as the Chargers led 60-14 after three.
McGovern finished the game going 15-for-26 for 153 yards and a touchdown and three interceptions.
Jermaine Tillery caught four passes for 49 yards.
Kaschin Edwards led the Eagles with ten tackles and a sack. Cherry had nine tackles and a sack to go along with his touchdown.
Antwan Walden had his team-leading third interception of the season.
Degenhardt was 16-for-22 for 259 yards with four touchdown passes for the Chargers. Ais had six carries for 118 yards. Holmes had four catches for 147.
