The Post University men's hockey team will take part in the 56th annual Codfish Bowl Tournament hosted by the University of Massachusetts-Boston (UMass-Boston) on December 29 and 30th.
The Eagles will be taking on Franklin Pierce at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, while UMass-Boston will take on the University of Rhode Island at 1 p.m.
The winners of each game will face each other on Thursday at 4 p.m., with the consolation game being held at 1 p.m.
It is the first time the men's team has participated in the tournament.
It will be the second time the Eagles and Ravens have played each other this season, with the Eagles winning 4-3 on November 16.
The Eagles jumped out to a 4-0 lead and held on after a furious rally from the Ravens in the third period. Chase Lapworth, John Krapian, Niko Grollman and Patrick Murphy all had goals for the Eagles. Jack Engdahl had two assists.
Notes On Post
· The Eagles have won three of their last four games, including Northeast-10 wins over Franklin Pierce and Stonehill. Post currently sits in second place in the conference.
· Post is coming off a long layoff, having not played since a 4-3 win over Rivier. In that game, the Eagles scored three second period goals en route to the win. Engdahl had a goal and an assist in the game.
· In those wins, the Eagles have scored four goals. Through just nine game the Eagles have scored four or more goals four times. In the 2019-2020 season the Eagles had six games with four or more goals (26 games).
· John Krapian leads the Eagles in goals with five and is tied for eighth in the NE10. Brandon Crowther leads the Eagles in assists with six, putting him tied for seventh in the conference. Kieran Gardner leads the Eagles in points with eight (three goals, five assists).
· In net, Brandon Brown is second in the conference with 251.
About Franklin Pierce
· The Ravens are 4-8 on the season and 1-4 in the NE10 and are in last place. However, they have won their last two games, including back-to-back 5-3 wins over Johnson and Wales and Saint Anselm.
· Conor Foley leads the team in points with 12 (five points, seven assists), which puts him tied for fourth in the NE10. The Ravens have three players in double digits in points. Along with Foley, Cody Ramsey and Ryan Gorbet each have ten points.
· The Ravens lead the all-time series against Post, 6-4, with their last win in the series coming in 2019-2020 in a 5-4 overtime win.
· The Ravens are third in the conference with nine power play goals and are second in the conference in saves with 336.
Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, fans will be prohibited from attending the tournament.
