Head Baseball Coach Ray Skjold has announced the appointment of Joel Avina and Jared Zima as Assistant Baseball Coaches.

Avina will be responsible for working with infielders, recruiting, and assisting with the offense. In his playing career, Avina was part of a state championship program while attending Cypress County College in Orange, CA. He Then continued his career at Bethesda University and would finish at Clarke University in Dubuque, IA. Avina graduated from Clarke with his degree in business management. He earned valuable coaching experience while working for Elite Baseball in Orange, CA. While at Elite, Avina was mainly an instructor, but also contributed to the organization of yearly recruiting events.  

"Joel has outstanding passion for player development," said Head Baseball Coach Ray Skjold. "He has good knowledge and a great understanding of how to use video to help players improve."

Jared Zima is a familiar face to the Post University Baseball program. Zima played for the Eagles from 2016-2021 where he was primarily used as a catcher. Zima graduated from Post University with a bachelor degree in business management and a masters degree in business administration and concentration in marketing. His responsibilities will include coaching the catchers, recruiting, and assisting the offense.

"Jared asked me about joining the coaching staff after the season was over and it was a no brainer. Jared has a great baseball IQ and has familiarity with the of competitiveness of the CACC. As a player, he was well respected amongst his teammates and has already made a significant impact while coaching our catchers during the fall."

"Both Jared and Joel possess the right type of character, knowledge, and work ethic to be a successful coach at the collegiate level. They have already displayed these traits while working with our student-athletes throughout the fall. I'm looking forward to seeing how they will continue add value to our program."
