Three Post University student-athletes were named New England Women's Hockey Alliance Student-Athletes of the Year and part of the 23 players on the roster who made the NEWHA All-Academic team as announced by the conference on Wednesday.

Senior Kendall Fitzgerald, junior Kathleen Takita and sophomore Kaitlyn Daly were three of the seven student-athletes named Student-Athlete of the Year by the conference. Jayne Lewis and Cannady Taleghani of Sacred Heart, Kenzie Harmison of Long Island University, and Bridget Fagan of Franklin Pierce also earned the distinction. All seven players achieved a 4.0 GPA.

 Fitzgerald played in all 35 games, scoring four goals with eight assists for 12 points. In a five-game stretch in mid-November, she scored two goals and three assists for five points (2-3=5) and served her team as a captain. She is a Biology major who was also named to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-America first team following the year. 

Takita was named to the NEWHA All-Sportswomanship Team following the season. The Psychology major posted three assists and was named to the Fulbright-MITACS Globalink Research Program, an exclusive endeavor that allows students from the United States to conduct research projects for 10-to-12 weeks in their areas of interest. 

Daly appeared in 17 games at goaltender, making 545 saves, recording  her first shutout against Wilkes on Nov. 24, turning aside all 32 shots against. The Criminal Justice major made a season-high 55 saves at Sacred Heart on December 7. She had seven games with 40-plus saves. 

The following players were named to the NEWHA All-Academic team. Players who had a GPA of 3.0 or higher were eligible for the distinction. With 23 student-athletes named to the team, the Eagles had the second most in NEWHA behind Sacred Heart (27).
