The third period played exactly as the first, scoreless. Brown put together his best period of the game when it mattered the most with 20 saves. Johnson collected five saves for the Purple Knights.
The game entered overtime tied at 1-1. The Eagles were outshooting the Purple Knights four to three and then came the fifth shot of the overtime period for Post, a game-winning goal off the stick of Will Francis, assisted by Evan Lugo. This was Francis' second goal of the season.
"I thought both teams played hard as it came down to overtime to decide the game," Eagles Head Coach Peter Whitney said. "We weathered an early Power Play in OT and capitalized on a great play with our guys being hard on the puck taking advantage of the opportunity and burying the chance."
Brown ended the game with a specular 58 saves on 59 shots on goal.
Tonight's win marks three out of four for the Eagles, with all three accounting for series-series wins.
Both sides will meet again tomorrow at 4:00 p.m.
