Men’s Hockey Win 5-1 Over Franklin Pierce, Capture Season Series Win

Box Score

Post University: 6-13

Franklin Pierce University: 9-11

SHELTON, Conn - Post and Franklin Pierce matched up earlier this January for a weekend series in New Hampshire. Franklin Pierce took the first game 2-1 but Post bounced back the next night with a spirited 5-4 OT win. The two sides met again at the Sportscenter of Connecticut to decide to the season series and the Eagles delivered one of their best performances of the season.

Eagles captain Lucas Smith kicked off the scoring when he sniped the right corner to put his team up 1-0 in the first period.

The Ravens answered quickly with a goal of their own. Nate Indelicato received some help from Alex Lester and Jack Williams and just like that, the game was tied one minute after the opening score.

The Eagles asserted their dominance in the second period. Christopher Harris, assisted by Nolan Arbuckle and Harrison Sheldon, put Post up 2-1 on a goal midway through the period. Noah Wild tacked on another goal in the second period. Post now led the Ravens 3-1.

Brandon Brown played a perfect second period, stopping all ten shots put on net. In all, Brown saved 27 shots and only allowed the one first period goal on way to earning his third win of the season.

Bill Purdue put the Eagles on the board in the third period for their fourth goal of the game. For Purdue, it was his first goal of the season.

Post's scoring night was capped with a goal from Jake Raleigh. Raleigh's score gives him at least one goal in three consecutive games. Raleigh also collected two assists, giving him the team lead with 11 helpers.

Tyler Hackett dominated the faceoff circle with 13 wins to only 2 losses. The Eagles enjoyed a 45-26 advantage in faceoff circle as a team.

Next Up - Men's Hockey will travel to Southern New Hampshire for a weekend series (Friday - 7:00 p.m., Saturday - 3:30 p.m.)

Both sides matched up in Shelton on January 15th when the Eagles stormed back from a 3-0 deficit to capture a big 5-4 OT victory over the Penmen.
