Two Late Powerplay Goals Push Skidmore Past Post

Box Score

The Eagles struck first in the Skidmore Thanksgiving Invitational when Evan Lugo netted an unassisted goal in the first period. Lugo's goal adds to his already team-leading point total, which is now at nine.

Skidmore answered back in the second period with two goals within three minutes of each other to take a 2-1 lead. The second period saw four total goals. The third goal of the period was scored by Kyle Weiss of the Eagles and knotted the game at 2-2. Skidmore answered with a powerplay goal later in the period, giving them a 3-2 lead over Post.

The third period was dominated by the Thoroughbreds. Their two goals in the third helped seal a 5-2 victory. Post was out-shot in the third period 11-9 and out-shot 51-22 on the game.

Brandon Brown played the entire game in net and stopped 46 of the 51 shots he saw.

Tyler Hackett was the only Eagle with a winning record in faceoff circle (9-8). As a team, the Eagles won 26 faceoffs to the Thoroughbreds 47.

Coach Whitney on today's performance: "Great effort by the team adjusting to the larger ice surface. The score does not indicate how well the guys executed the game plan".
