WATERBURY, Conn. – The Post University softball team will travel to Nyack, N.Y. on Wednesday, Apr. 8 to do battle against the Warriors of Nyack College in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) doubleheader. First pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m. The Eagles are 6-2 in conference play, and 12-10 overall.

All-Time Series vs. NyackThe Eagles have been nearly perfect against Nyack, having lost just one game in 28 previous meetings. The single blemish dates back to an away game in the 2007 season. The Eagles have outscored the Warriors 55 to 11 in their previous six meetings.

Scouting the OppositionNyack stands at 2-8 in conference play, and 4-17 overall. Meghan Richards leads the Warriors and ranks second in the CACC in homeruns with five on the season. Nyack will enter play on Wednesday hitting .218 as a team, having scored 41 runs over 21 games. The Warriors are coming off of a doubleheader split with Chestnut Hill. According to the CACC Preseason Coaches' Poll, Nyack was picked to finish 14th in the conference.

Leading the WaySenior Kaitlin Derby (Douglaston, N.Y.) leads the Eagle pitching staff with five wins and junior Samantha Esque (Springfield, Pa.) ranks second in the CACC with a 1.42 earned run average. First-year Emily Schaffer (Hazlet, N.J.) has allowed just one earned run over her last 27.2 innings of work, and just three hits in her previous 12 innings pitched. Â
Junior Kayla Kresley (Alburtis, Pa.) leads Post in all major hitting categories. Kresley is hitting .393 over 61 at-bats with 24 hits, four homeruns, and 15 RBIs. Â Â
Preseason PrognosticationsThe Post softball team was selected to finish sixth in the CACC Preseason Coaches' Poll. The Eagles received 122 points in the poll as voted by the conference's 14 head coaches, just behind fifth-place Dominican. Caldwell received 194 points and 12 first-place votes to earn the top spot in the poll. Defending conference champion Wilmington was selected second with 157 points and one first-place vote.
