WATERBURY, Conn. – The Post University softball team is scheduled to round out the regular season with a slate of three Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) opponents. First, the Eagles will play host to Bloomfield College on Senior Day Wednesday, Apr. 22 for a 2 p.m. start. Post will do battle at regionally ranked (8) and defending CACC champions Wilmington University on Friday, Apr. 24 at 12 p.m. The Eagles will finish in Philadelphia, Pa. on Saturday, Apr. 25 when they face University of the Sciences in a final tune-up before the CACC Tournament.

All-Time Series vs. BloomfieldBloomfield holds a slight advantage over Post in the all-time series having won 15 of the 29 previous meetings. Post is 5-7 when facing Bloomfield at LaMoy field. In recent history the Eagles are 1-4 against the Bears, but will look to flip the script on Wednesday.

Scouting the OppositionThe Bears currently stand in eighth place in the CACC standings with an 11-10 conference record and 21-16-1 overall. Bloomfield is coming off of a win and a loss to Georgian Court. The Eagles will expect to face sophomore Kirsten Wilson (Beaver Falls, Pa.) who leads the conference with 12 wins and 199 strikeouts. Wilson also does it with the bat and ranks third in the conference with 31 RBIs on the season. Bloomfield was picked to finish seventh according to the CACC Preseason Coaches Poll.

All-Time Series vs. WilmingtonThe Wildcats hold a slight advantage in the all-time series having won 15 of the previous 29 games. The Eagles have been slumping against Wilmington in recent history, and were defeated by the Wildcats in the second round of the CACC Tournament a season ago. Post is 7-7 on the road against Wilmington.

Scouting the OppositionThe Wildcats rank fourth, one spot behind Post, in the CACC standings with a 14-6 conference record and 24-13 overall. The Eagles will likely face senior Chelsea Botsch (Smyrna, Del.) who is a 12-game winner and ranks second in the CACC with 120 strikeouts. According to the CACC Preseason Coaches Poll, the Wildcats were picked to finish second in the conference, receiving one first place vote.

Leading the WayJunior Samantha Esque (Springfield, Pa.) leads the Eagles pitching staff with nine wins and ranks first in the conference with a 1.02 earned run average. She has also notched 87 strikeouts over the season, ranking third in the CACC. Â
Junior Kayla Kresley (Alburtis, Pa.) leads Post in all major hitting categories. Kresley is hitting .394 over 94 at-bats with 37 hits, five homeruns, and 17 RBIs. Â
CACC HonorsFirst-year Emily Schaffer (Hazlet, N.J.) was named Rookie of the Week on Monday, Mar. 30 and Esque was named CACC Pitcher of the Week on Monday, Apr. 13. Â
Preseason PrognosticationsThe Post softball team was selected to finish sixth in the CACC Preseason Coaches' Poll. The Eagles received 122 points in the poll as voted by the conference's 14 head coaches, just behind fifth-place Dominican. Caldwell received 194 points and 12 first-place votes to earn the top spot in the poll. Defending conference champion Wilmington was selected second with 157 points and one first-place vote.
