WATERBURY, Conn. – The Post University softball team will play two Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) doubleheaders this weekend. On Saturday, Apr. 11, the Eagles will host second-place Georgian Court University at 1 p.m. and Post will travel to Philadelphia, Pa. to do battle against Chestnut Hill on Sunday, Apr. 12. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m.
 
All-Time Series vs. Georgian Court
Post and Georgian Court are familiar foes having met 38 times, but the Lions lead the all-time series 27-11. Each of the previous three games were decided by one run, and in their last meeting, Georgian Court edged Post 4-3 to knock the Eagles out of the CACC Tournament a season ago.

Scouting the Opposition
Georgian Court ranks second in the CACC with a 9-3 conference record, and 10-20 overall. The Lions are riding a two-game skid and recently suffered a doubleheader sweep to Felician College. Dara Schroeder (Bordentown, N.J.) leads the CACC in stolen bases with 27, more than double that of second place. According to the CACC Preseason Coaches' Poll, Georgian Court was picked to finish third.
 
All-Time Series vs. Chestnut Hill
The Eagles have had success against the Griffins in the past, having won 12 of the previous 14 meetings. Both of the losses to Chestnut Hill came on the road; Post is a perfect 8-0 at LaMoy Field.

Scouting the Opposition
The Griffins stand at 4-12 in conference play, and 6-18 overall. Chestnut Hill is recently coming off of a doubleheader split with University of the Sciences. As a team, the Griffins are hitting .193 and the pitching staff has posted a combined 5.92 earned run average. Chestnut Hill was picked to finish 12th (of 14 teams), voted by the CACC Preseason Coaches' Poll.
 
Leading the Way
Senior Kaitlin Derby (Douglaston, N.Y.) and junior Samantha Esque (Springfield, Pa.) lead the Eagles pitching staff with five wins each. Esque ranks second in the CACC with a 1.26 earned run average.
 
Junior Kayla Kresley (Alburtis, Pa.) leads Post in all major hitting categories. Kresley is hitting .418 over 67 at-bats with 28 hits, four homeruns, and 16 RBIs.  
 
Preseason Prognostications
The Post softball team was selected to finish sixth in the CACC Preseason Coaches' Poll. The Eagles received 122 points in the poll as voted by the conference's 14 head coaches, just behind fifth-place Dominican. Caldwell received 194 points and 12 first-place votes to earn the top spot in the poll. Defending conference champion Wilmington was selected second with 157 points and one first-place vote.
 
On Deck
Post is scheduled for a four-game slate next week, all of which have CACC implications. First, the Eagles will play host to Concordia College on Tuesday, Apr. 14 at 3 p.m.
