Preview: Eagles Look To Advance In CACC Tournament

Felician Beat Eagles Twice This Season



Waterbury, Conn . - The Post University Eagles continue to try and make a run at a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference title as they take on the Felician Golden Falcons in a tournament game on Thursday at 11:30 a.m. in New Castle, Del.

Post (17-20-1, 10-10 CACC) - seeded sixth - defeated Nyack in the first round of the tournament on May 3, thanks to a dominant performance on the mound by junior Don Crook (Meriden, Conn.). Crook pitched eight innings, giving up no runs on seven hits and walk while striking out eight in the 6-0 win. For his performance, Crook was named the National College Baseball Writers Association East Region Pitcher of the Week on Tuesday. The week also included a complete game against Chestnut Hill where he struck out 10, and gave up three earned runs.

Crook was 10th in the CACC in ERA at a stingy 2.22. He was fifth in the conference with 60 strikeouts and tied for third in wins with six.


Both teams met n April 12 in a doubleheader in Rutherford, N.J., where the Golden Falcons (26-18, 15-5 CACC) swept the Eagles, 7-1 and 6-1. Sophomore Mick Terzi (Wallinford, Conn.) had nine strikeouts in five innings of game one for the Eagles in the loss. Felician - the No. 2 seed - received a bye in the first round.

If the Eagles win, they will face the winner of the No. 1 Wilmington vs. No. 5 Dominican matchup on May 9 at 11 a.m. If they lose, they will take on the loser of that game at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday. The championship game will be played on Saturday, May 10.

Leading the Way
Senior Julien Casaubon (Joliette, Quebec) was the home run king of the season, belting seven to lead the CACC. Mick Terzi was tied for third in the season in saves with three. Senior Matt Cambria (Toronto, Ontario), was seventh in the CACC in ERA with a 2.02 ERA.
