Waterbury, Conn . - The Post University Eagles continue to try and make a run at a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference title as they take on the Felician Golden Falcons in a tournament game on Thursday at 11:30 a.m. in New Castle, Del.
Post (17-20-1, 10-10 CACC) - seeded sixth - defeated Nyack in the first round of the tournament on May 3, thanks to a dominant performance on the mound by junior
Don Crook (Meriden, Conn.). Crook pitched eight innings, giving up no runs on seven hits and walk while striking out eight in the 6-0 win. For his performance, Crook was named the National College Baseball Writers Association East Region Pitcher of the Week on Tuesday. The week also included a complete game against Chestnut Hill where he struck out 10, and gave up three earned runs.
Crook was 10th in the CACC in ERA at a stingy 2.22. He was fifth in the conference with 60 strikeouts and tied for third in wins with six.
Both teams met n April 12 in a doubleheader in Rutherford, N.J., where the Golden Falcons (26-18, 15-5 CACC) swept the Eagles, 7-1 and 6-1. Sophomore
Mick Terzi (Wallinford, Conn.) had nine strikeouts in five innings of game one for the Eagles in the loss. Felician - the No. 2 seed - received a bye in the first round.
If the Eagles win, they will face the winner of the No. 1 Wilmington vs. No. 5 Dominican matchup on May 9 at 11 a.m. If they lose, they will take on the loser of that game at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday. The championship game will be played on Saturday, May 10.
