Box Score Pomona, N.Y. – The Post University Eagles baseball team will be moving on in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) tournament thanks to dominant pitching as it defeated Nyack, 6-0 in Pomona, New York on Saturday afternoon.
The Eagles – seeded sixth - will take on No. 2 seed Felician in the second round on Thursday, May 8 in New Castle, Del.
Starter
Don Crook (Meriden, Conn.) pitched eight innings, giving up no runs on seven hits, on one walk while striking out eight in his best performance of the season
Post also used the long ball to its advantage hitting two long balls on the day.
The Eagles started their scoring in the second inning as sophomore
Eduardo Familia (Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic) hit a two run triple to score senior
Alex Beland (Trois-Riviere, Quebec) and senior
Julien Casaubon (Joliette, Quebec).
Post would score two more in the top of the third, as Beland hit a two-run shot, scoring Causaubon.
Casaubon would then hit a two-run homer of his own in the top of the seventh. Casaubon finished the day 3-for-4 with three runs scored and two RBI.
The Eagles finished with 14 hits on the day, including three by senior
Marcel Chavez (Los Angeles, Calif) and Beland.
The tournament win was the first for Post since 2011.
