Box Score 2 NEWTOWN, Pa. – The Post University softball team was swept by Holy Family on Saturday afternoon in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference battle. Senior
Stephanie DeMartino (Staten Island, N.Y.) hit a solo homerun as the Eagles fell to the Tigers 4-1 in the first game. Holy Family took game two as well, 8-5.
Game One – Holy Family 4, Post 1 Holy Family commanded the first game as Amanda Paredes held Post to just one run on three hits. The Tigers went ahead 2-0 in the third inning on a Daniel McDevitt single. Paredes racked up six strikeouts for Holy Family.
The Tigers added a run in the fourth and fifth innings before DeMartino got Post on the board with a solo shot to left field. Senior
Rebecca Erb (Yardley, Pa.) and sophomore
Kaitlin Iacomini (Pleasant Valley, N.Y.) picked up the other two hits for the Eagles.
Junior
Kaitlin Derby went 5 innings on the mound and struck out five batters while giving up four hits and three earned runs.
Game Two – Holy Family 8, Post 5 The Tigers took command early in the second game with runs in the first and second innings to go up 2-0. DeMartino sparked the offense yet again and tied the game up with a two-run single in the third, her third RBI of the day.
However, Erin Corrado hit a grand slam for Holy Family in the bottom of the third inning to put the Tigers up 6-2. Redshirt freshman
Kayla Kresley (Alburtis, Pa.) brought the Eagles within two with a two-run homer in the fourth. Kresley now has four homeruns in 2014.
Holy Family added two more runs to go up 8-4 before senior
Casey Sclafani (Brooklyn, N.Y.) hit a sacrifice fly to bring in Post's final run. Sophomore
Samantha Esque (Springfield, Pa.) was handed the loss for Post giving up eight hits in two innings.
On Deck: The Eagles (9-12) will play at #14 Caldwell on Sunday, April 5 with the first game starting at 2 p.m.
