LITTLE FALLS, N.J. – The Eagles baseball team dropped its fourth and fifth straight games as it lost both games of a doubleheader to Bloomfield College.

The Eagles lost game one, 7-6 (10), and game two, 5-4.

Post is now 13-19-1 overall and 7-9 in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC).

During game one, the Eagles almost completed a monumental comeback. After being down 6-2 going into the top of the ninth, they scored four in the inning to take the game into extra innings.

After giving up two runs in the fifth inning, the Eagles were able to get on the board in the top of the sixth as senior Julien Casaubon (Joliette, Quebec) hit a two run single to score senior Mike Shada (Holtsville, N.Y.) and senior Zach Brecht (Cedar Rapids, Iowa).

Bloomfield would then score two runs in both the 6th and 7th innings to take the 6-2 lead.

Post would mount a comeback in the ninth as Casaubon hit another RBI single to make it 6-3. Thanks to some poor defense and pitching by Bloomfield, sophomore Julio Velazquez (Bronx, N.Y.) and junior Dylan Pastor would draw bases loaded walks to make it a 6-5 game. Freshman Drew Deangelis (Robbinsville, N.J.) was then hit by a pitch, tying the game at 6-6. The final three runs of the inning were scored with two outs.

However, the tie would not last long as Carlos Flete of Bloomfield hit an RBI single off of sophomore Mick Terzi (Wallingford, Conn.) in the bottom of the 10th inning, giving the Deacons the win. Terzi received the loss. His record now stands at 2-4.

Starter Joseph Enderle (Hicksville, N.Y.) pitched 5.2 innings, giving up four earned runs on six hits and one walk. He also struck out two. Shada finished the day 3-for-4 at the plate. He scored two runs.

Game two saw a wild eighth inning after runs were scarce early on for both teams. Post started the scoring in the third inning as Shada's RBI double scored Brecht.

Bloomfield would be held scoreless by starter Matt Cambria (Toronto, Ontario) for the first six innings before finally scoring two in the seventh to take a 2-1 lead.

Just like in game one, Post would again benefit off of poor pitching and defense by the Deacons in the top of the eighth. Sophomore Eduardo Familia (Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic) would score on a failed pickoff attempt to tie the game at 2-2. Senior Marcel Chavez (Los Angeles, Calif.) would then reach on an error which scored Pastor, giving the

Eagles the 3-2 lead. Sophomore Brian McKenna (New York, N.Y.) would then come up huge with a double, which scored Chavez, putting the Eagles up, 4-2.

Bloomfield answered with three runs of their own in the bottom of the eighth as Joe Meoloa hit an RBI single to make it a 4-3 game. Ben Thomas would then reach on an error by Familia, which scored the final two runs of the innings, giving them the 5-4 lead for good.

Cambria (2-4) would finish the game giving up five runs – one earned – on nine hits and two walks while striking out one in seven innings. Sophomore Glenn Marrus (Meriden, Conn.) pitched an inning and struck out two.
