Recap: Eagles Bats Kept Silent In Loss

Losing Streak Hits Three Games

Box Score

PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – The bats of the Post University Eagles baseball team were kept relatively silent with only three hits, as they lost a 9-1 game to Pace in an out-of-conference matchup on Tuesday afternoon. It is the third straight loss for Post.

The Eagles now stand at 13-17-1 overall, and are 7-7 in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference.

The Eagles lone run of the game came from sophomore Eduardo Familia (Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic) as he crossed home plate on a balk in the bottom of the fourth inning after he tripled.

Pace (11-18) would score seven runs in the first three innings of the game. Tom Midolo hit a solo home run to give the Setters a 1-0 lead. Chris Gili drove in three runs during that stretch with an RBI groundout in the second inning and a two-run double to left-center in the bottom of the third to give Pace a 7-0 lead. Midolo would drive in one more run in the sixth inning on a single to right field.

Familia, freshman Drew Deangelis (Robbinsville, N.J.) and senior Julien Casaubon (Joliette, Quebec) got on base via hit. Deangelis and Casaubon both singled.

Sophomore starting pitcher Ethan Szabo (Bridgeport, Conn.) picked up the loss for the Eagles, as he pitched three innings, giving up seven runs – all earned – on 10 hits and a walk. He is now 0-1 on the season. Sophomore Alex Johnson (Bethel Conn.) threw two innings in relief and had three strikeouts.

On deck for the Eagles is a doubleheader on April 24 at Bloomfield in a CACC clash. First pitch is scheduled for noon.
