Recap: Eagles And Rams Split CACC Doubleheader

Familia's Triple Leads To Game One Victory

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

Waterbury, Conn. - The Post University baseball team split a doubleheader with Philadelphia in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) tilt.

The Eagles won the first game, 4-2 before dropping game two, 3-1. The Eagles now stand at 13-15-1 on the season and 7-6 in the CACC. They are sixth in the conference standings.

In game one, the Eagles only needed one inning - the top of the fourth - to get enough offensive power to win the game. Sophomore Eduardo Familia (Santo Domingo, hit a two-run triple to give the Eagles a 2-1 lead after the Rams scored in the bottom of the third. Familia would then score on a wild pitch before senior Jeff St. Pierre (Milford, Conn.) doubled to score freshman Drew Deangelis (Robbinsville, N.J.)

Philadelphia would score one more run in the fifth, but that was all the offense for the rest of the game.

Senior Julien Casaubon (Joliette, Quebec) was 3-for-4 with a run scored.

Don Crook (Meriden, Conn.) came out short of throwing a complete game, pitching 8.2 innings, striking out eight, giving up two runs - one earned - six walks, and five hits. He is now 4-1 on the season. Sophomore Mick Terzi (Wallingford, Conn.) earned his third save of the season, getting one out in the ninth.

In game two, the Rams shut down the Eagles for the first eight innings, before an RBI double by sophomore Alex Beland (Trois Riviere, Quebec) cut the Rams deficit to 3-1 in the top of the ninth. Beland finished the day 2-for-4.

The Rams scored a run in the first, third and sixth innings to take a 3-0 lead early on.

Senior Matt Cambria (Toronto, Ontario) received the loss despite a stellar performance in a complete game. He gave up three runs - all earned - while giving up eight hits and walking one. He is now 2-3 on the season.

With the win, the Rams are now 13-19 overall and 7-7 in the CACC.

On deck for the Eagles is a CACC home game against Nyack on Monday at 3 p.m.
