Box Score 2 BLOOMFIELD, N.J. – Freshman
Erica Ragazzone (Philadelphia, Pa.) hit a game-winning grand slam in the seventh inning of game one to help the Post University softball team split with Bloomfield Thursday afternoon. The Eagles took the first game, 5-3, before falling in game two, 5-2. Post is now tied for the second best conference record in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) at 13-5.
Bloomfield took a 1-0 lead in the first inning after a homerun from Angie Yoshizu. Senior
Stephanie DeMartino (Staten Island, N.Y) then tied the game up at one by knocking in fellow senior
Jackie Bonamassa (Staten Island, N.Y.) with a single in the fifth inning.
The Lady Deacons answered in the bottom of the fifth with a two-run homer by Kirsten Wilson to take a 3-1 lead. Ragazzone saved the day for Post with a grand slam in the final inning, her fourth homerun in the last three doubleheaders. The freshman continues to tear it up after being named to the CACC Honor Roll last week.
Bonamassa went 3-for-4 and scored a pair of runs for the Eagles. Junior
Kaitlin Derby (Douglaston, N.Y.) was solid on the mound for Post. Striking out four batters and giving up just three runs in a complete-game effort, Derby improves to 7-3.
Bloomfield took the second game by a score of 5-2. The Eagles (17-17) have already matched their total win total from all of last season.
On Deck: Post will return home to LaMoy Field for a doubleheader with Philadelphia on Saturday, April 19. First pitch is set for 1 p.m.
