Preview: Doubleheader Against Philadelphia Marks Important Week

Play In-State Rival SCSU As Well

The Post University baseball team will take on a conference foe and an in-state foe this week.

The Eagles are coming off a split doubleheader against Briarcliffe on April 13. Post won the first game, 9-8 (11), but dropped the second game by the same score.

The Eagles are currently 11-14-1 overall, and 6-5 in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC). They currently sit fifth in the conference, and have dropped its last five CACC games.

Top Flight

Seniors Mike Shada (Holtsville, N.Y.) and Julien Casaubon (Joliette, Quebec) are tied for second in the CACC with four home runs.

King Of The Hill

Senior Matt Cambria (Toronto, Ontario) has been stingy on the mound thus far, with an ERA of 1.88, good enough for seventh in the conference.

CT's Finest Battle

A battle of Connecticut's finest will take place at Rogers Park on April 18 in Danbury, Conn. as the Eagles take on Southern Connecticut State University on April 18 in a non-conference game. The Owls, out of the Northeast-10 Conference, is currently 14-10-1 overall and 9-5 in conference. The Owls have won two straight, including a doubleheader sweep of AIC on April 13.

No Brotherly Love

The Eagles, overall, have had CACC rival Philadelphia's number, having dominated the series, 14-6. However, Philadelphia has won the last two meetings, an 8-3 and 1-0 win on April 27, 2013.

When the teams meet on April 19, they will be battling for a CACC playoff spot. The Rams currently are 12-17 overall and 6-6 in the CACC. In their last two games, they swept a doubleheader against USciences on April 12, winning 2-1 and 7-4.

The Rams are led by Jordan force is one of their top offensive threats, with a .421 on-base percentage, 31 hits, 16 runs scored and seven RBI. Kevin McCormick leads the team with 18 RBI.
