Waterbury, Conn. - The Post University baseball team split a doubleheader with Briarcliffe on Sunday as both teams won their game, 9-8. The first game went into 11 innings, with Post the victor.

Post now stands at 11-14-1 overall and 6-4 in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference. Briarcliffe is now 14-11-1 overall.

Freshman Drew DeAngelis (Robbinsville, N.J.) drove in the winning run with a grounder to deep short that drove in Mike Shada (Holtsville, N.Y.)

Deangelis redeemed himself after hitting into a doubleheader in the bottom of the ninth inning with the bases loaded. Deangelis was 3-for-4 on the day, and also scored two runs to go with his RBI.

Sophomore Eduardo Familia (Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic) was 2-for 6 including a homer. He also scored three runs. Senior Julien Casaubon (Joliette, Quebec) added a two-run homer for the Eagles.

Dylan Pastor (Hewlett, N.Y.) picked up his first win of the season and is now 1-0. He threw two innings and struck out one. Senior Nick Bologna (Wantagh, N.Y.) started for the Eagles, pitching five innings, giving up three earned runs and striking out one.

Briarcliffe jumped out to a 3-0 lead early on before the Eagles scored seven straight runs before Briarcliffe scored one in the sixth and three in the seventh to send the game into extra frames.

In game two, Briarcliffe again jumped out to a 3-0 lead, but poor pitching by Bulldogs, including seven walks by starter Mike Manning, leading to five runs. The Eagles would hold that lead until the fifth inning when Briarcliffe hit three doubles, leading to five runs in the inning.

With the Bulldogs up 8-5, Pastor hit a three run homer in the bottom of the sixth inning, tying the game.

The game looked destined to go into extra frames again, but with two outs in the seventh and a runner on third, freshman Nick Grasso (Wyckoff, N.J.) balked, giving the Bulldogs the lead for good. The Eagles would strand a runner on second base in the bottom of the seventh to end their comeback threat.
