WATERBURY, Conn. – The Post University softball team will play three road doubleheaders this week, two against Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) opponents including #13 Caldwell. The Eagles have won six of their last eight games and are 5-1 thus far in the CACC.
Post will first take a trip to Albany, N.Y. for a doubleheader against Saint Rose starting at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, April 2. On Friday, April 4, the Eagles will visit #13 Caldwell with the first game beginning at 3 p.m. The next day, Post will travel to the Philadelphia, Pa. region for a noon doubleheader with Holy Family.

Kaitlin Iacomini (Pleasant Valley, N.Y.) went 2-for-3 with a pair of RBI, scored a run and walked once in the first game. Senior
Stephanie DeMartino (Staten Island, N.Y.) was 3-for-5 with an RBI double for the Eagles.
Game two was a slugfest as both teams combined for a total of 25 hits. Freshman
Kathryn Dawson (Newfields, N.H.) was 3-for-4 at the plate and sealed the win for Post win a two-run single in the sixth inning. Freshman leadoff hitter
Natalie Lennox (Landenberg, Pa.) had two hits and scored two runs in the win.
Scouting the Competition:Saint Rose started off hot, winning three of its first four games, but the Golden Knights have cooled off recently. The Golden Knights are 4-7 overall, 1-1 in the Northeast-10 Conference and split a doubleheader with Pace the last time out. Marisa Bird leads the team with a .414 batting average and 10 RBI.
Caldwell has exploded onto the scene in 2014 and currently sits at #13 in the country with an 11-1 record. After dropping the season opener, the Cougars have won 11 games in a row. Caldwell is hitting .377 as a team so far this season and posts a team earned run average of just 1.45. Hanna Walkinshaw has yet to give up an earned run in 18.1 innings in 2014 for the Cougars.
Holy Family is 13-6 overall and 5-2 in the CACC this season. The Tigers are 4-1 at home and swept Goldey-Beacom the last time out. Samantha Borrelli is currently fifth in the conference with 21 RBI in 2014. Rachael Alligood and Bailey Walters each have won four games on the mound for Holy Family.
All-Time Series…:With Saint Rose: Post and Saint Rose have split the all-time series with four wins for each team up to this point. The Eagles swept the Golden Knights a season ago.

With Caldwell: The Eagles have not fared very well against the Cougars historically. Post is 6-23 all-time and 2-8 on the road against Caldwell. The Cougars have taken the last three games.

With Holy Family: Post has struggled when playing at Holy Family over the years. The Eagles are 10-17 against the Tigers overall but have only won on the road just once, back in 2005.

Kaitlin Derby (Douglaston, N.Y.) sits in ninth in the CACC with a 2.29 ERA. Senior
Stephanie DeMartino (Staten Island, N.Y.) is currently tied for sixth in the conference with seven doubles.
Preseason Prognostications:The Eagles were selected to finish ninth in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Preseason Poll as announced by the conference office on Monday, Feb. 4. The Eagles received 85 points in the poll. Defending conference champion Caldwell garnered 12 out of the 14 possible first-place votes to earn the top stop in the poll. Dominican received the other two first-place votes and earned the second spot.
Senior Leadership:The Eagles return six seniors in 2014, all of whom made at least 31 starts a season ago. All five of Post's top hitters in 2013 are back for their senior campaigns. Seniors
Stephanie DeMartino (Staten Island, N.Y.) and
Rebecca Erb (Yardley, Pa.) both led Post with a .315 batting average last season. Fellow senior
Christina Udris (Levittown, Pa.) led the Eagles with six homeruns and 31 RBI in 2013.
