Six-Run First Leads Eagles To Victory Over Nyack

Brecht Drive In Two Runs On Three Hits

FT. PIERCE, Fla. – The Post University baseball team got off to a quick start on Wednesday with six runs in the first inning as it defeated Nyack 9-2 in Ft. Pierce, Fla. The Eagles improved to 2-5 on the season with the victory.
 
Senior Zach Brecht (Cedar Rapids, Iowa) led off the first with a single and later came home for the first run on an error. The next four Eagles reached base, two on errors, as Post jumped in front 4-0. Brecht came up again in the inning and drove in two with a single. He finished with three hits, including a double.
 
The Warriors got one back in the bottom of the inning. Senior Mike Shada (Holtsville, N.Y.) tripled to begin the second and later came home on groundout by senior Julien Casaubon (Jiolette, Quebec) to put Post in front 7-1.
 
Junior Don Crook (Meriden, Conn.) struck out the side in the bottom of the sixth. He pitched a gem, allowing just three hits and one run, while striking out seven to pick up the victory. The Eagles loaded the bases in the seventh put couldn't push across another run.
 
Senior Ian Ratchford (Danbury, Conn.) came home on a passed ball in the eighth inning. He was one of three Eagles to be hit by a pitch in the ninth and drove in senior Marcel Chavez (Los Angeles, Calif.) for the game's final run.
 
Post plays two games in Palm Beach, Fla. on Friday afternoon. The Eagles begin with LIU-Post at 1 p.m. followed by Southern New Hampshire at 4 p.m.
