Softball Splits Doubleheader with #23 SNHU

Kresley Goes Deep Twice for Post

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

WATERBURY, Conn. – The Post University softball team split a doubleheader with #23 Southern New Hampshire of the Northeast-10 Conference on Tuesday afternoon at LaMoy Field. The Penmen easily topped the Eagles in the first game, 8-0 in six innings, but Post rallied and came away with a huge 9-3 win in game two. Redshirt freshman Kayla Kresley (Alburtis, Pa.) homered twice in the Eagles' victory.

Game One – SNHU 8, Post 0 F/6

Post really struggled to get the bats going in the first game and only managed to get four players on base. Freshman Erica Ragazzone (Philadelphia, Pa.) doubled and sophomore Samantha Esque (Springfield, Pa.) added a single for Post.

Ali Maloof (5-2) absolutely shut down the Eagles' offense allowing just two hits and one walk in six innings of work. Post committed five errors in the opening game whereas Southern New Hampshire did not commit any.

Esque (2-3) pitched all 5.1 innings for the Eagles and had a tough outing against the potent lineup of the Penmen. Southern New Hampshire racked up 14 hits led by Lindsey Bolduc whose two-run homerun in the first inning set the tone for an explosive offensive attack for SNHU.

Game Two – Post 9, SNHU 3

Despite falling behind 3-0 in the first inning in the second game, Post rallied for 13 hits, the most hits the Eagles have had in a single game this season. Senior Christina Udris (Levittown, Pa.) was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded before fellow senior Jackie Bonamassa (Staten Island, N.Y.) scored on a wild pitch to make it 3-2 in the first.

The Eagles weren't done yet however as Ragazzone hit a two-run double and Kresley homered to left center to add two more runs for Post, giving the Eagles a 6-3 first-inning lead. That dynamic duo of freshmen kept the runs coming for Post in the second inning. Ragazzone hit an RBI single and Kresley followed that up with an RBI double to extend the lead to 8-3.

Kresley capped off her stellar performance with a solo shot in the fourth inning, her second homerun of the game and third of the season. Junior Kaitlin Derby (Douglaston, N.Y.) was outstanding on the mound for the Eagles. She picked up her second win of the season, pitched all seven innings and gave up three runs on five hits. Freshman Kristen Owens (Exton, Pa.) and senior Stephanie Mendez (White Plains, N.Y.) each had a pair of hits for Post.

On Deck: Post (7-8, 4-0 CACC) will finish off its homestand with a doubleheader against Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) opponent Dominican at LaMoy Field on Thursday, March 27 starting at 2:30 p.m.
