Waterbury, Conn. – The Post University baseball team looks to add on to its two-game winning streak as it plays two doubleheaders this week against Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference foes.
The Eagles will play at Concordia fro a twin bill on March 19, then return home on March 22 to take on Caldwell in a doubleheader.
In their last games, the Eagles (5-8, 2-0) swept USciences, 10-4 and 3-1 in their games in Yaphank, N.Y. Senior Julien Casaubon (Joilette, Quebec) and Mike Shada led the offensive attack in both games. Casaubon went 4-for-5 in the game, driving in two runs, as well as hitting a home run. Shada was 3-for-5 - including a home run - with three RBI in the first game.
In game two, an RBI single by Casaubon and another home run from Shada, and a home run from senior Marcel Chavez (Los Angeles, Calif.) were enough for senior Matt Cambria (Toronto, Ontario) to get his first win of the season. Cambria finished with one strikeout and giving up just one run on five hits and four walks in six innings pitched. Sophomore Mick Terzi (Wallingford, Conn.) pitched an inning of relief, striking out three, for the save.
Shada is currently eighth in the CACC in batting average at .370 and second in RBI with 17. Casaubon is tied for seventh in the conference in RBI with nine.
Concordia has started the season 4-5 and will be playing its first two CACC games of the season when they take on the Eagles. In their last games, the Clippers split a doubleheader against Queens, winning the first game 5-4, and dropping the second game, 2-1. Joe Gallub and Erik Poldroo lead the team in hits with nine. Poldroo and Jason Reyes both have five RBI on the season.
Caldwell is currently 1-7 overall and have yet to play a CACC game yet. The Cougars are coming off losses to both Pace - 3-1- and Merrimack, 10-2 on March 15.Stephen Luczaj, Paul Nyitray and Joe O'Donnell each have six hits on the season to lead Caldwell.Four players are tied with two RBI each.
