WATERBURY, Conn. – Senior Joe Baccielo (Stratford, Conn.) scored 3:24 into the second overtime to give the Post University soccer team its first Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) victory, 1-0, over Concordia on Wednesday afternoon at LaMoy Field. The Eagles dominated play and created multiple opportunities, outshooting the Clippers 19-7. Post has outshot its opponents 36-12 its last two times out.

Senior Krzysztof Giezek (Southington, Conn.) received the ball around midfield took a few dribbles and led a pass on the ground up ahead of the defense. Baccielo beat his defender and received the pass left of the goal and took a shot to the right side for the score.

"We played the way we wanted and got the goal we wanted. Joey played great and deserved that goal," said head coach Ted Haley. "Our guys dominated on both sides of the ball and deserved to win."

For the second straight game, the Eagles had a goal negated because of an offside call. Midway through the second half, junior Terrell Whitting (Naugatuck, Conn.) crossed a pass from the right to Baccielo in the box, but Baccielo was called offside.

"We were frustrated because we couldn't get an early goal. They have a good goalkeeper and made it difficult for us by sending help and putting bodies on goal," added Haley. "I'm proud of our guys for staying focused and not losing their head."

One of the Eagles best chances came in the 18th minute when sophomore Raphael Moura (Danbury, Conn.) hit the crossbar on a shot from close range.

Baccielo led the Eagles with four shots on the day, including two on goal. Moura and Whitting each added three shots. Senior Andre Lindsay (Clarendon, Jamaica) had one save en route to his third shutout of the season. Concordia (1-3, 1-2 CACC) goalkeeper Ruel Gordon stopped four shots.

The Eagles (3-1, 1-1 CACC), who are currently ranked fourth in the East Region, head to Goldey-Beacom on Saturday, Sept. 21. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
