WATERBURY, Conn. – The Post University women's volleyball team suffered its fifth loss of the season on Sunday afternoon at the Drubner Center, 3-0 to Saint Anselm. The set scores were 19-25, 22-25, 23-25. Senior Emily Wilman (Perth Amboy, N.J.) led the Eagles with 13 kills and eight digs. Freshman Morgan Griffin (Plainfield, Conn.) recorded 11 kills, 12 digs and a service ace as well.

Post fell behind early, trailing 12-6 after a service ace by Saint Anselm's Natalie Steinwart. After the Hawks took a 21-15 lead, the Eagles put together a 4-1 run to come within three at 22-19. Saint Anselm then scored three points in a row to take the first set 25-19.

The two teams fought neck and neck in the second set. Two kills by junior Julia Slyaktina (Moscow, Russia) and another by Wilman helped to put Post ahead 20-19. However, Saint Anselm would finish with a strong 6-2 run to win the set.

The final set was another back and forth battle between the Eagles and Hawks. Post took an 8-6 lead early after a kill by freshman Nicole Brown (Queens, N.Y.), but Saint Anselm fought right back with four straight points to take a 10-8 lead. The Eagles would take a 17-14 lead with a kill by Griffin before the Hawks tallied another string of four straight points, taking the lead 18-17. A kill by Wilman gave Post a 23-22 lead, but Saint Anselm capped off the match with three straight points to win 25-23.

It was the second match in a row where Post came within just two points of winning the third set, losing the third and final set 26-24 to Franklin Pierce on Saturday. Slyaktina added a season-high 32 assists, seven digs and a service ace, while Brown notched six kills and two solo blocks in Sunday's defeat.

It was a balanced attack for the Hawks, who put together a total of five service aces. Kyla Gustavson led the charge with eight kills and 15 digs. Saint Anselm improves to 4-2 on the season.

The Eagles return to action on Tuesday, Sept. 17 with a conference match against Bloomfield at the Drubner Center at 7 p.m.
