Blair Breaks Triples Record, Eagles Split Final Doubleheader

Todd Blair Becomes Career-Leader With 14th Triple

DANBURY, Conn. – Senior Todd Blair (Ajax, Ontario) moved into first-place on Post University's all-time list with the 14th triple of his career on Wednesday afternoon against Bloomfield. The Eagles split their season-finale doubleheader losing, 7-3, in game one and taking game two, 5-1. Blair moved past Chris Uccelini who finished with 13 triples. His record has stood since 2004.
 
Blair finished drove in a run on two hits and also scored once. Junior Mike Shada (Holtsville, N.Y.) hit his first home run of the season in game two and also scored twice. Freshman JJ Cormier (Hialeah, Fla.) also hit a home run and drove in three. Junior Matt Cambria (Toronto, Ontario) threw his sixth complete game of the season, allowing just one run on two hits while striking out six.
 
Game One – Bloomfield 7, Post 3
Anthony Koban and Felipe Medrano both reached to begin the second inning. After a sacrifice moved them both into scoring position, Kevin Caraballo drove in the first run with a ground out to second. David Rivera hit a single to right to bring home the second run. Junior Jeff St. Pierre (Milford, Conn.) threw Rivera out at second trying to steal to end the inning.
 
A walk and an error put two on for the Deacons in the third. Paul Chong put Bloomfield in front 5-0 with a home run to left field.
 
Blair broke the record in the fourth inning with a triple to center field which drove in the first run for Post. Sophomore Erik Rodriguez (Miami, Fla.) hit a ground ball back to the pitcher, but reached on a throwing error as Blair came home. An error by the shortstop on a ball hit by junior Billy Bryant Gonzalez (Ponce, Puerto Rico) cut the deficit to 5-3.
 
Four hits led to two runs in the fifth for the Deacons as they extended their advantage to 7-3. Senior Ian Toro (New York, N.Y.) prevented another run by throwing out Koban at home for the second out. The Eagles put two on with one out in the fifth and eight but failed to score each time.
 
Game Two – Post 5, Bloomfield 1
Shada slammed a home run to center field with one out in the first to put the Eagles ahead 1-0. Junior Marcel Chavez (Los Angeles, Calif.) drew a walk and Gonzalez singled with two outs. Cormier hit a three-run shot to left as Post held a 4-0 lead after one.
 
The Eagles loaded the bases in the third inning. Cormier was hit by a pitch with one out and junior Jesus Nunez (Bronx, N.Y.) reached on an error. Senior Bobby Rodriguez (Carmel, N.Y.) hit a single to center, but a strikeout and fly out ended the frame.
 
Cambria allowed just two base runners through his first six innings of work. With one out in the seventh, Chong hit his second home run of the day to put Bloomfield on the board. Bobby Rodriguez scored on a wild pitch in eighth for the final run.

The Eagles finish their season at a record of 18-22-1 overall and 6-14 in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) play. Blair and Erik Rodriguez led the team with 43 hits each and Blair also had a team-high 22 RBI. Cambria had a team-high six wins on the mound and an ERA of 3.41. Senior John Jeanes (Hatchechubbee, Ala.) led the staff with 44 strikeouts.
