Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

WATERBURY, Conn. – The Post University softball team fell to the top team in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC), Caldwell, on Friday afternoon. The Eagles dropped the first game 2-0 and fell in the second 4-0.

Junior Christina Udris (Levittown, Pa.) was 3-for-6 on the afternoon and now leads Post with 30 hits on the season. Freshman Samantha Esque (Springfield, Pa.) and senior Casey Sclafani (Brooklyn, N.Y.) each chipped in two hits.

Game One – Caldwell 2, Post 0
Senior Lianna May (King Ferry, N.Y.) was hit by a pitch to begin the first inning. She advanced to third on two groundouts by Post, but was stranded there. Senior Ashley Cummings (Stafford, Va.) didn't allow a runner to reach until the fourth inning.

Kristen Knorr led off the fourth with a single to right field and advanced to second on a sacrifice. Alyssa Calderon drove in the first Caldwell run with a single to right field. Udris had a base hit to center with one out in the fourth, but never advanced further.

Nicole Velardi hit an infield single to begin the fifth. Cummings forced the next two Cougars in to groundouts as Velardi moved to third base. An error by Esque allowed the second Caldwell run to score.

Junior Alysha Pieta (Middletown, Conn.) tripled to right field with one out in the bottom of the fifth, her first extra-base hit of the season. The Eagles couldn't bring her home as a strikeout and groundout ended the frame.

Esque reached with one out in the sixth, but a double play ended the threat. Cummings went the distance on the mound and struck out two.

Game Two – Caldwell 4, Post 0
Sclafani hit a single to center field in the bottom of second inning. Pieta followed with a walk to put two on with one out. Both were stranded as two pop ups ended the inning. Post stranded two more in the third as Esque and Udris singled before a double play stopped the threat.

Caldwell got on the board with two runs in the fourth. After a single and a double, Brielle Reighn cleared the bases with a single to center field. The Cougars added two more in the fifth as Ana Pedroza drove in a run and later scored on a wild pitch.

Junior Jackie Bonamassa (Staten Island, N.Y.) walked and May singled to begin the fifth inning. Bonamassa advanced to third before Udris was called out on interference to end the frame.

Senior Johanna Rice (Glendale, N.Y.) pitched out of a jam in the sixth. Caldwell put runners at second and third with one out, but a ground out and popup ended the inning.

The Eagles hit the diamond again on Saturday, April 6 at USciences. First pitch of the doubleheader is scheduled for 1 p.m.
