Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

WATERBURY, Conn. – The Post University softball team split its season finale on Saturday afternoon against Holy Family at LaMoy Field. Post dropped game one 3-1, but took game two 5-3. Senior Johanna Rice (Glendale, N.Y.) won her final career start allowing three runs on striking out two.

Junior Jackie Bonamassa (Staten Island, N.Y.) led the Eagles with four hits on the day, including a double, and also scored one run. Junior Stephanie DeMartino (Staten Island, N.Y.) drove in three runs on two hits. Senior Lianna May (King Ferry, N.Y.) scored three times and also had two base-hits.

Game One – Holy Family 3, Post 1
A two-run home run to center in the sixth inning by Lindsey Iden proved to be the difference in game one. The Eagles quickly got the first two outs, but a single by Kristine Casey kept the inning alive. Iden followed with the long ball to put the Tigers in front 3-0.

Post had trouble finding its offense early on as it scattered two hits over the first five innings. Junior Christina Udris (Levittown, Pa.) hit a single down the left field line in the second, but was retired on a double play. Freshman Kimberly Yano (Blauvelt, N.Y.) had an infield single in the third and was stranded at first.

Two singles and walk loaded the bases for the Tigers in the fourth inning. Iden flew out to center field for the first out and Bonamassa gunned down Alexis Daubert at home for an inning-ending double play to keep the game scoreless.

May and Bonamassa hit infield singles to begin the bottom of the sixth inning. Junior Casey Sclafani (Brooklyn, N.Y.) moved both into scoring position with a fly out. DeMartino hit a sacrifice fly to bring home a run for the Eagles.

Senior Ashley Cummings (Stafford, Va.) struck out the side in the first inning and finished with six punch outs on the afternoon.

Game Two – Post 5, Holy Family 3
Bonamassa doubled to left field with one out in the top of the first. The Tigers' first baseman misplayed a ball hit by Sclafani that allowed her to advance to third and Bonamassa to score. DeMartino followed with a ground-rule double to centerfield to put Post in front 2-0.

Two errors by the Eagles allowed Holy Family to get one back in the second inning.

May and Bonamassa led-off the third inning with singles. Bonamassa recorded her second bunt base-hit of the day. Both advanced on a flyout by Sclafani and May came home as DeMartino flew out to foul territory in left.

Sclafani doubled over the head of the right fielder in the fifth inning to put Post ahead 4-1. DeMartino followed with a walk to put runners at the corners with no outs. Freshman Samantha Esque (Springfield, Pa.) singled up the middle to bring home one run. DeMartino was thrown out at the plate trying to add another. Holy Family scored twice in the seventh on an error at first.

The Eagles finish the season at 17-30 overall and 8-18 in conference play. Junior Rebecca Erb (Yardley, Pa.) led Post with a .314 batting average. Udris finishes with a team-high six home runs and 29 RBI. Rice led the pitching staff with eight wins and Cummings struck out a team-high 75 batters.
