Five-Game Win Streak Snapped As Eagles Fall To New Haven, 12-7

Blair Extends Hit Streak To 13 Games With Three Singles

Box Score

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Senior Todd Blair (Ajax, Ontario) extended his hit streak to 13 games with three hits in a 12-7 defeat at in-state rival New Haven on Thursday afternoon. The loss also snapped the Eagles season-long five-game win streak as the Eagles sit at 16-18-1 on the season.

Blair led all players with three hits and also scored one run. Sophomore Erik Rodriguez (Miami, Fla.) had two base-hits, extending his streak to nine consecutive games with a hit and scored twice. Junior Marcel Chavez (Los Angeles, Calif.) drove in a run on two hits.

Three straight singles to begin the second inning loaded the bases with no outs. Senior Joe Diz (Albuquerque, N.M.) hit and RBI single down the left field line to put the Eagles in front 1-0 and a muffed thrown allowed two more to score.

Diz scored on a sacrifice fly by junior Mike Shada (Holtsville, N.Y.) and Chavez extended the Post advantage to 5-0 with a base-hit to right. The Chargers got one back in the bottom of the inning on a double by Zach Collett.

New Haven scored once in the third and twice in the fourth to close the deficit to 5-4. Collett singled down the left field line in the fifth to put the Chargers ahead 6-5. Two consecutive wild pitches followed by a home run by Kyle Cullen in the sixth made the score 10-5 in favor of New Haven.

The Eagles added a run in the seventh as senior Bobby Rodriguez (Carmel, N.Y.) was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded. Junior Jeff St. Pierre (Milford, Conn.) grounded out to second in the ninth to drive in the final run for Post.

Post hosts its final Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) doubleheader of the year on Saturday, April 27 against Philadelphia. First pitch is scheduled for noon.
