CALDWELL, N.J. – The Post University baseball team tied its season-high win streak with its fifth consecutive victory in a doubleheader sweep at Caldwell on Wednesday night. The Eagles took game one, 4-3, and shutout the Cougars, 6-0, in game two. Junior
Matt Cambria (Toronto, Ontario) threw his second straight complete game allowing no runs and striking out seven.

Mike Shada (Holtsville, N.Y.) had four hits including a triple on the day and a team-high two RBI. Senior
Todd Blair (Ajax, Ontario) reached base five times on four hits and drove in a run and scored once. Sophomore
Erik Rodriguez (Miami, Fla.) extended his hit streak to eight games with two hits in each contest and scored two runs.
Game One – Post 4, Caldwell 3
Tied 3-3 heading to the top of the ninth inning, Shada drove the winning run in with a two-out single to right center. Junior
Billy Bryant Gonzalez (Ponce, Puerto Rico) was hit by a pitch to begin the frame. Junior
Zach Brecht (Cedar Rapids, Iowa) laid down a sacrifice bunt to move Gonzalez into scoring position before Shada hit in the go-ahead run.
After a lead-off error in the bottom of the inning, sophomore
Rob Gaertner (Wantagh, N.Y.) sat the next three batters down in order for the victory.
Caldwell got on the board first with a run in the second inning. Anthony Morena reached on an error and advanced to second on a wild pitch. He came in for the first run on a sacrifice fly by Phil Ragusa.
A pair of two-out hits put Post in front 2-1 in the third. Brecht led-off the inning with a base-hit to right and advanced to third on two ground outs. Junior
Julien Casaubon (Jiolette, Quebec) hit his first triple of the season to bring home the tying run. Freshman
JJ Cormier (Hialeah, Fla.) followed with an RBI single to right. Post tacked on one more run in the fourth on a throwing error.
The Cougars tied the game in the eight on a two-run single by Morena. Senior
John Jeanes (Hatchechubbee, Ala.) pitched 7.1 innings, allowing three runs, while striking out one. He now sits at 117 career strikeouts and needs four more for the fifth-most total in school history.
Game Two – Post 6, Caldwell 0
Post recorded its second shutout victory of the season and first since an 11-0 win over Concordia on March 3. Blair put the Eagles in front with an RBI single to center in the fourth inning.
Senior
Bobby Rodriguez (Carmel, N.Y.) doubled to right center to begin the fifth. Shada extended the Post lead to 2-0 with a triple to center to bring home Rodriguez. Junior
Marcel Chavez (Los Angeles, Calif.) followed with a base-hit through the left side to drive in Shada.
Chavez recorded his third hit of the game to begin the Eagles' three-run eighth. After a sacrifice bunt,
Erik Rodriguez singled and Blair walked to load the bases with one out. Gonzalez drove in one on a pinch-hit base knock through the left side.
Bobby Rodriguez rounded out the scoring with an infield single as two runs came home.
The Eagles will be back in action tomorrow in a non-conference matchup at New Haven. First pitch is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
