Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – The Post University baseball team received strong performances at the plate and on the mound in its sweep of Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) foe USciences on Saturday afternoon. The Eagles took the first game, 5-3, and won game two, 6-3. It marks the first time this season Post has swept a doubleheader against a conference opponent.

Senior Todd Blair (Ajax, Ontario) drove in a team-high three runs on four hits, including a double. Junior Mike Shada (Holtsville, N.Y.) led the Eagles with five hits on the day. He also drove in a run and scored three times. Junior Marcel Chavez (Los Angeles, Calif.) drove in two runs on four hits and also scored twice. Senior John Jeanes (Hatchechubbee, Ala.) allowed one earned run and struck out four over 7.2 innings on the mound.

Game One – Post 5, USciences 3
Freshman JJ Cormier (Hialeah, Fla.) got the Eagles going in the second as he reached second on a throwing error to lead-off the inning. He advanced to third on a groundout and Blair drove him home with an infield single to put Post in front 1-0.

Another error by the Devils in the fourth led to another run. Sophomore Erik Rodriguez (Miami, Fla.) reached on a misplay by the right fielder. Blair drove in his second run with an RBI single down the left field line. Junior Jeff St. Pierre (Milford, Conn.) singled to put runners at the corners with one out, but a double play ended the threat.

Shada singled through the left side to open fifth. Junior Julien Casaubon (Jiolette, Quebec) hit an RBI single down the right field line to put the Eagles ahead 3-0. Cormier and Chavez followed with base hits to load the bases with one out, but Post couldn't push another run across.

Jon McMahon hit an RBI double in the sixth to put the Devils on the board. Jeanes pitched out of a jam with runners at second and third with no outs. He struck out a batter before inducing an inning-ending double play.

Post added some insurance with two runs in the seventh on doubles by Chavez and Blair. Senior Phil Sirois (Cheshire, Conn.) closed out the final 1.1 innings by striking out two and not allowing a hit for his first save of the season.

Game Two – Post 6, USciences 3
The Eagles went out in front 1-0 in the first inning as Casaubon doubled and Cormier followed with a single to left field. USciences pulled ahead 2-1 in the bottom of the frame with back-to-back two-out RBI base hits by McMahon and Connor Lennox.

Junior Matt Cambria (Toronto, Ontario) pitched out of a jam in the second. He hit two batters to load the bases with two outs before a ground ball to third ended the inning. St. Pierre tied the game 2-2 with a base hit to left in the fourth. The Devils took the lead back in the fifth on a double by Lennox.

Back-to-back two-out singles by Chavez and Rodriguez put the Eagles in front for the first time at 4-3 in the sixth inning. Shada and senior Ian Toro (New York, N.Y.) pushed the lead out to 6-3 in the eight with RBI singles. Cambria shut down USciences in the ninth inning for the complete game.
