Softball Falls To Cedarville and No. 17 West Virginia Wesleyan On Day Two Of NTC Spring Games

Udris Hits Two Home Runs On The Day, Three On The Season

CLERMONT, Fla. – The Post University softball team was defeated in both of its games on Monday, March 4. The Eagles fell to Cedarville 8-3 in early action and were defeated by No. 17 West Virginia Wesleyan 11-1 in their late game.
 
Junior Christina Udris (Levittown, Pa.) continued her hot start to the season with three hits on the day, including two home runs and three runs batted in. Junior Rebecca Erb (Yardley, Pa.) hit her first long ball of the season. She finished with two hits and a stolen base. Freshman Samantha Esque (Springfield, Pa.) had two strikeouts in two innings of relief.
 
Game One – Cedarville 8, Post 3
Kelsey Wilson drove in the first run of the day for Cedarville in the first inning. The Eagles put runners at second and third with one out in the second, but were unable to push a run across.
 
Post got on the board in the third inning. Senior Lianna May (King Ferry, N.Y.) singled and then stole second base with one out. After a strikeout, Udris launched a two-run home run to put the Eagles ahead 2-1. The Yellow Jackets tied the score 2-2 in the bottom of the third. Erb homered to lead-off the fourth inning and put Post back in front 3-2.
 
Cedarville broke the game wide open with a five-run fourth inning. Wilson reached on an error by Erb to drive in the first run. A double by Missy Kasabian drove in three runs and put the Yellow Jackets in front 7-3. They would tack on one more run in the sixth.
 
Game Two – No. 17 West Virginia Wesleyan 11, Post 1 F/6
West Virginia Wesleyan struck early with three runs in the first inning. Paige Cummings hit her first of two triples on the day to drive in the first run and later scored on a fielder's choice. Cummings drove in three in the second inning with another triple to put the Bobcats ahead 6-0.
 
Udris put the Eagles on the board in the fourth with a lead-off home run. Post went down in order after the long ball and was down 7-1 after four. The Bobcats added four runs in the top of the sixth inning to extend their lead to 11-1.
 
Bonamassa and Udris both reached base to begin the bottom half of the sixth, but neither could advance past second base.
 
Post hits the field for two games again tomorrow. The Eagles play Findlay at 9 a.m. and Saint Anselm at 1 p.m. Both games will be played in Clermont, Fla.
