RUTHERFORD, N.J. – The Post University baseball came from behind on Saturday afternoon to defeat Felician in game one of its doubleheader. Junior
Mike Shada (Holtsville, N.Y.) hit a walk-off ground-rule double to centerfield in the Eagles' 7-6 victory.
Game One – Post 7, Felician 6
With the score tied 6-6 in the bottom of the ninth inning, freshman
JJ Cormier (Hialeah, Fla.) singled up the middle with two outs. He advanced to second on a wild pitch by Jack Fowler. Shada drove in the winning run with a ground-rule double over the centerfield wall.
After pulling ahead 3-0 to begin the game, the Eagles fell behind after a six-run fourth inning by Felician.
Senior
Joe Diz (Albuquerque, N.M.) walked and stole second to lead-off the game. After another walk put runners at first and second with no outs, senior
Todd Blair (Ajax, Ontario) singled up the middle to move Diz to third, but junior
Billy Bryant Gonzalez (Ponce, Puerto Rico) was thrown out at third on the play.
Junior
Julien Casaubon (Jiolette, Quebec) reached on an error as Diz came home to score. Sophomore
Erik Rodriguez (Miami, Fla.) put the Eagles ahead 2-0 with a single to centerfield. Post added another run in the third inning as Casaubon scored on a wild pitch.
The first five Golden Falcons reached base to begin the fourth inning. Mike Farrell drove in two runs on a single up the middle. Scott DeJong gave Felician a 4-3 lead with a triple to left center. Chris Faber hit an RBI single and later scored on an error as the Golden Falcons pulled ahead 6-3.
Diz and Blair cut the deficit to 6-5 with RBI singled in the bottom of the fourth. The Eagles scored the tying run in the seventh inning on a singled to left field by senior
