The Post University softball team plays two doubleheaders this week, one against a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) opponent. The Eagles play their home-opener against Mercy on Friday and host Georgian Court on Saturday.

The Eagles split their CACC opener in Philadelphia on Sunday, March 17. The Rams got on the board early in game one on a solo home run by Meaghan Lewis. Post threatened in top of the fourth inning. Junior
Stephanie DeMartino (Staten Island, N.Y.) singled to left field with one out. Junior
Casey Sclafani (Brooklyn, N.Y.) had a base hit up the middle to put two on with one out, but the Eagles failed to push a run across. The Rams ended the game in the sixth inning as Andrea Schell doubled to centerfield to drive in the final three runs.
Post came from behind for an extra-inning victory in game two. Two errors by Post in the second inning allowed the Rams to score twice and pull ahead 2-1. Philadelphia pushed its lead up to 5-1 with runs in the fifth and sixth. Freshman
Samantha Esque (Springfield, Pa.) drove in a run with a single in the seventh. Two batters later, May cut the deficit to one with a two-run single to left field. The Eagles pulled ahead 6-5 on a single by junior
Christina Udris (Levittown, Pa.). Post put the game away with a six-run ninth. Udris drove in two runs on a single up the middle and Erb pushed across the final Post run with a single to left field. Lewis tripled for the Rams in the bottom of the ninth to drive in two runs.
She May Get A Hit
Lianna May has hit safely in 21 consecutive CACC games dating back to April 3, 2012. During the streak May has a .480 batting average, 37 hits, and 12 multi-hit games. The senior has recorded five doubles, one triple, and a home run during the stretch. She has gotten a hit in 34 of her last 38 games overall.
Hot Start For The Shortstop
Junior
Christina Udris is off to a fast start in 2013. She leads the Eagles with a .366 average, three home runs, and 11 RBI. Udris has gotten a hit in all but one of the Eagles' games this year. She hit three home runs in Post's first four games. The junior had a season-high four RBI in a 12-8 victory against Philadelphia on March 17.
Scouting the Mavericks
Mercy is 6-5 on the season and has won three of its last four outings. The Mavericks are 1-1 against CACC opponents this year, splitting a doubleheader against Wilmington to open the season. Kimberly Crnkovich leads Mercy with 14 hits, eight RBI, and a .389 average. On the mound, Brittany Serrao is 2-0 with a 2.33 earned run average in 21 innings pitched. The Mavericks lead the East Coast Conference with 15 stolen bases and are second with 92 hits.

Scouting The Lions
Georgian Court is 6-10 on the season, including a 9-8 victory over No. 15 West Virginia Wesleyan at the NTC Spring Games. The Lions have won four of their last five games. Sophomore Dara Schroeder leads the team with 20 hits and a .377 average to go along with four stolen bases. Junior Kristina Morgan has three wins on the mound, 13 strikeouts, and a 3.87 earned run average. Georgian Court is second in the CACC with 129 hits.

The Eagles are 8-24 against Georgian Court all-time. Post ended a 12-game losing streak against the Lions with a victory in the CACC Tournament last season. The Eagles haven't defeated Georgian Court at home since 2005.

The Eagles were selected to finish sixth in the CACC Preseason Poll announced on Wednesday, Feb. 13. Post garnered 128 points in the poll voted upon by the 14 CACC head softball coaches. Three-time defending conference champion, Dominican, was picked as the preseason favorite with 190 points including 10 first-place votes. Caldwell was selected second with 184 points and three first-place votes.
