Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

NORRISTOWN, Pa. – The Post University baseball team fell to Chestnut Hill on Friday afternoon in its Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) opener in Norristown, Pa. The Eagles were defeated 8-1 in the first game and fell 7-2 in the second. Post has now dropped four consecutive games and sits at 7-6 overall and 0-2 in conference play.

Senior Joe Diz (Albuquerque, N.M.) led the Eagles with three hits, including two doubles. Junior Julien Casaubon (Jiolette, Quebec) had two doubles and one run batted in. Juniors Mike Shada (Holtsville, N.Y.) and Zach Brecht (Cedar Rapids, Iowa) each drove in a run. Junior Marcel Chavez (Los Angeles, Calif.) had two stolen bases.

Game One – Chestnut Hill 8, Post 1
Chestnut Hill loaded the bases in the bottom of the first inning with a walk and two singles. After a groundout drove in the first run, Brendan Looby singled to left field to put the Griffins ahead 3-0. Looby stole second and came in to score on a single by Joseph Mullin.

The Eagles had trouble getting anything going early on. Sophomore Erik Rodriguez (Miami, Fla.) singled with one out in the second inning, but a double play ended the frame. Diz doubled with two outs in the third but never made it home. The Eagles worked out of a jam in the fifth inning. Chestnut Hill loaded the bases with two outs, but a ground out to first ended the threat.

Post got on the board in the seventh inning. Junior Billy Bryant (Ponce, Puerto Rico) and Casaubon drew walks with no outs.  Erik Rodriguez moved both runners into scoring position with a sacrifice bunt. Freshman JJ Cormier (Hialeah, Fla.) was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Shada drove in the lone Eagles' run with a single to right field. Post failed to push another run across in the inning.

The Griffins put the game away with four runs in the eighth inning. The Eagles went down in order in the ninth.

Game Two – Chestnut Hill 7, Post 2
Diz doubled to left-center field to lead off game two. Gonzalez walked with one out and later stole third base. Cormier struck out to end the Eagles' threat. Chestnut Hill put runners at second and third with two outs in second, but freshman Mick Terzi (Wallingford, Conn.) struck out Mike McLaughlin to end the inning.

McLaughlin doubled to right-center field in the bottom of the fourth to put the Griffins ahead 3-0. Chestnut Hill added two more runs in the fifth inning. Casaubon doubled with one out in the sixth, but was stranded at third base.

The Griffins pushed their advantage to 7-0 in the seventh inning as Joseph Crane doubled home a run and later scored.
Senior Todd Blair (Ajax, Ontario) walked and stole second with one out in the eighth inning. Casaubon hit his second double of the day to drive Blair home for the first Eagles' run. Post tacked on one more in the ninth as Brecht reached on a fielder's choice.

Post will hit the field again on Wednesday, March 20 in its home-opener against Bloomfield. The doubleheader begins at noon at Rogers Park in Danbury, Conn.
