Eagles Volleyball Ends Season with Road Defeat to Holy Family

Wilman Notches Double-Double in Final Match

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – The Post University women's volleyball team fell 3-0 on the road to Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) foe Holy Family Friday night. The set scores were 21-25, 25-27, 15-25. Senior Emily Wilman (Perth Amboy, N.J.) notched a double-double, recording 11 kills, 12 digs and a service ace for Post.

Freshman Nicole Brown (Queens, N.Y.) had nine kills and two blocks for the Eagles. Junior Julia Slyaktina (Moscow, Russia) added 23 assists, nine digs and a block.

Despite falling behind 4-1 early in the opening set, the Eagles marched right back to take a 7-6 lead. After Holy Family regained the lead 10-7, Post went on a 4-1 run capped off by an ace from sophomore Janiellee Alvarez (Norwich, Conn.) to tie it up at 11. The Tigers answered with a 6-1 run before the Eagles went on a 6-1 run of their own to tie it again, 18-18. Post hung tough but came up just short, losing 25-21.

Post fell behind early again in the second set 6-1 before making an impressive comeback. The Eagles suddenly woke up and used an 8-2 run to gain a 9-8 lead. Three kills by Brown would then help Post to extend the lead to three at 18-15. Wilman was responsible for four of the Eagles' final eight points, but Post could not hold on as the Tigers came back to win the set 27-25.

The Eagles opened the final set taking a 3-2 lead, but the Tigers went on a 7-1 run to jump on top 9-4. Two Wilman kills gave Post some life, reducing the deficit to two at 10-8. However, Holy Family maintained control for the remainder of the match and took the final set 25-15.

Alvarez and freshman Kerrin Kallmann (Lake Grove, N.Y.) combined for five service aces. Freshman Morgan Griffin (Plainfield, Conn.) finished with three kills and 12 digs.

Emma Herring recorded an astonishing eight service aces for Holy Family. The Tigers (15-14, 11-8 CACC) will move on to play in the CACC Tournament.

The Eagles finish the season at 6-22 overall and 6-13 in the CACC.
