NEWTOWN, Pa. – The Post University softball team fell to 2-9 this season in one-run games after it dropped a pair of Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) decisions at Holy Family on Tuesday afternoon. The Eagles suffered a 3-2 loss in the opener, while a 5-4 loss was handed to Post in the nightcap.
 
Junior 
Lianna May (King Ferry, N.Y.) went 4-for-8 at the plate on Tuesday and had a pair of hits in each game. She scored two runs on the day, while the Eagles were led by three runs from sophomore 
Jackie Bonamassa (Staten Island, N.Y.). Classmate 
Casey Sclafani (Brooklyn, N.Y.) went 2-for-4 with three RBIs in game two.
 
Game One: Holy Family 3, Post 2 – 8 innings
Holy Family used three straight singles to start the bottom half of the extra inning to earn a one-run victory in the opener. Deanna Myers had the game-winning hit, which plated Valerie Miller.
 
Post (8-22, 6-8 CACC) opened the scoring in the top of the third as senior 
Amy Mantha (Agawam, Mass.) drove in a pair of runs. After two-out base hits May and Bonamassa, sophomore 
Christina Udris (Levittown, Pa.) loaded the bases with a walk. Mantha's base hit brought Bonamassa and May home from second and third, respectively.
 
However, the Tigers plated a pair of runs in their half of the third to level the score at 2-2.
 
Junior 
Ashley Cummings (Stafford, Va.) suffered the loss and fell to 4-9 this season. She struck out four batters, but walked five.
 
Game Two: Holy Family 5, Post 4
After Holy Family (14-12, 8-4 CACC) scored four times in the bottom of the first, a one-out double by sophomore 
Rebecca Erb (Yardley, Pa.) came around to score on an RBI single by classmate 
Stephanie DeMartino (Staten Island, N.Y.). The Erb tally cut Post's deficit to 4-1.
 
However, the Tigers grew the lead back to four runs in the bottom of the second on an unearned tally by Bianca Robinson.
 
Sclafani drove in a pair of runs in the top of the third on a two-out single that scored May and Bonamassa. Sclafani again plated Bonamassa in the fifth to make it a one-run game.
 
Post put the tying run on third base in the top of the seventh. May led off the inning with an infield hit. After she advanced to on a Bonamassa sacrifice, Mantha drew a one out walk to put runners on first and second. Sclafani grounded out to second base, but moved the runners to second and third with two outs. However, Erb grounded out to the pitcher to end the game.
 
The Eagles will host Goldey-Beacom in a CACC doubleheader on Friday, April 6. The games will be played at LaMoy Field and first pitch is scheduled for 2 p.m.
