LAKEWOOD, N.J. - For the fourth straight season, the Post University softball team has qualified for the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Tournament. This season, the Eagles are the fifth seed, which matches the highest since head coach
Tracey Garofalo took over the program in 2008. Post will begin the quest for the 2012 CACC Tournament Title on Thursday, April 26, when it takes on fourth-seeded Wilmington at Georgian Court University in Lakewood, N.J. First pitch is slated for noon.

The championship is an eight-team double elimination tournament. Admission is $6 for adults and $3 for children, senior citizens and students with ID. Georgian Court is located at 900 Lakewood Ave., in Lakewood, N.J.
Post concluded the regular season with four straight CACC wins, and victories in five of the last six conference contests, including sweeps of Bloomfield and Chestnut Hill.
First Team All-CACC selection
Lianna May (King Ferry, N.Y.) leads the team in seven statistical categories including average (.395), hits (60), runs (33), slugging percentage (.480), on-base percentage (.465), and total bases (73). As the Eagles' leadoff batter, May has reached base 41 times in 74 attempts, a percentage of .554. Her conference batting average of .451 is ranked fifth in the CACC. May is riding a 14-game conference hitting streak and she has recorded a hit in 24 of 26 CACC matchups this season.
Three other Post student-athletes are batting above .300 overall this season including sophomores
Stephanie DeMartino (Staten Island, N.Y.),
Jackie Bonamassa (Staten Island, N.Y.) and
Casey Sclafani (Brooklyn, N.Y.). DeMartino stands at .326, Bonamassa at .310 and Sclafani at .307.
In the circle, the Eagles are paced by the arm of junior
Ashley Cummings (Stafford, Va.). Cummings leads the staff with eight wins, a 3.51 ERA in 131.2 innings pitched. She tallied the team's lone shutout this season against Nyack on March 27 at the newly-renovated LaMoy Field.
Wilmington, which had a record-setting season in the CACC, had four individuals named to the All-Conference teams including head coach Erin Harvey who garnered Co-Coach of the Year honors. Katie Warrington and Shelby Thompson were named First Team All-CACC. Warrington led the league with 183 strikeouts in 138.2 innings of work. Jill Stafford earned an Honorable Mention.
Post and Wilmington split the regular season series in Delaware on April 14. Senior
Kim Bentson (Brewster, N.Y.) hit a pair of home runs in the twinbill and helped the Eagles to a 6-4 victory in the opener. Cummings pitched a complete game to earn her sixth victory of the season. She struck out three batters in the game.
POST IN THE CACC TOURNAMENT:
Post has appeared in nine CACC Tournaments and has qualified for the event in each of the last four seasons. The Eagles are 10-15 all-time at the event, and are 9-14 against the 2012 tournament field in the event. Post has defeated Holy Family and Caldwell three times each.

100 CAREER WINS:
After a doubleheader sweep at Bloomfield on Sunday, April 15, fifth-year head coach
Tracey Garofalo earned her 100
th career win at the helm of the Post softball program. The Eagles won game one 8-2 and the nightcap 5-1.
BEST CACC START EVER:
Post got off to its best start since joining the CACC this year after it swept doubleheaders against Philadelphia on March 18 and at Concordia on March 20. The Eagles were 4-0 as they entered a twinbill against Dominican in a battle for first place.
REGULAR SEASON RESULTS VS. THE FIELD:
Post went 4-10 during the regular season against the 2012 CACC Softball Tournament Field. The Eagles swept sixth-seeded Bloomfield on the road on April 15, and earned splits with #2 Caldwell and #4 Wilmington. Post was swept by top-seeded Dominican, third-seeded Georgian Court, seventh-seeded Felician and eighth-seeded Holy Family.
ACTIVE HITTING STREAKS:
Six Post players enter the CACC Tournament on multiple-game hitting streaks.
Stephanie DeMartino leads the squad with a hit in her last eight games and
Christina Udris is on a seven-game streak.
Jackie Bonamassa and
Amy Mantha have hit in their last three games, and
Lianna May has tallied a hit in consecutive contests.
PRESEASON PROGNOSTICATIONS:
The Eagles were selected to finish seventh in the CACC Preseason Coaches' Poll. Post garnered 117 points, while Dominican was named the preseason favorite. The Chargers are the two-time defending conference champions. The top eight squads will qualify for the 2012 CACC Championship.
NEW HOME TURF:
The Eagles received a newly-renovated home field for the 2012 campaign, LaMoy Field. Located on the north end of campus, Post played 14 home games and went 8-6 in Waterbury.
