Seniors James Wong And Russell Sirko Total Three Hits Each

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

WATERBURY, Conn. – The Post University baseball team earned a split in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) doubleheader with Nyack on Saturday afternoon at Municipal Stadium. The Eagles won the first game 5-4, before they lost game two 6-2. Seniors James Wong (Brooklyn, N.Y.) and Russell Sirko (Danbury, Conn.) had three hits apiece.

Junior Todd Blair (Ajax, Ontario) tallied his second home run of the season in game one. A two-run shot, Blair was the only Post (13-25, 5-11 CACC) player with multiple RBIs in the twinbill. Blair and Sirko scored two runs each on the day.

Game One: Post 5, Nyack 4
Trailing 4-3, the Eagles scored twice in the eighth to reclaim a one-run lead. Freshman Taylor Carr (St. Thomas, Ontario) drove in Blair on a single to center field with one out. Sophomore Kevin Fearon (Williston Park, N.Y.) pushed across Carr, the game-winning run, on a fielder's choice.

With two outs in the bottom of the ninth, Nyack's John Kennedy got an infield hit. After he ran through the base, Kennedy turned left, where Sirko, Post's first baseman, applied the tag to end the game.

Post got out to a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first. After Bobby Rodriguez (Carmel, N.Y.) led the game off with a single, he advanced to second on a wild pitch, and moved to third on a throwing error by the catcher. Junior Alexandre Beland (Trios-Rivere, Quebec) drove in Rodriguez on a ground out to the right side. After Alex Villar (Mesa, Ariz.) walked, Blair blasted his second home run of the season, a two-run shot, over the left field wall to give the Eagles a 3-0 lead.

After Nyack (18-18, 8-8 CACC) plated a pair of runs in the top of the fourth, the Warriors tied the game at 3-3 on a RBI single through the left side by Kennedy. Nyack took a 4-3 lead in the seventh on a JD Calabrese run.

Junior Kevin Collinge (Chandler, Ariz.) pitched the final 2.2 innings to pick up his second win of the season. He allowed two hits and struck out one. Senior starter Cutler Ruby (Diboll, Texas) pitched 6.1 innings and allowed five hits, three runs and one earned run.  Ruby totaled four strikeouts.

Game Two: Nyack 6, Post 2
Nyack never trailed in the night cap and led 3-0 after its second turn at bat. Phillipe Delisle drove in Kennedy, while Cole Tobin used a RBI single to plate Calabrese.

In the bottom of the second, Post cut the deficit to 3-1 on a sacrifice fly to right field by freshman Erik Rodriguez (Miami, Fla.). Sirko scored from third base on the play.

After the Warriors grew their lead to 6-1 in the top of the seventh, the Eagles scored one run in the bottom half of the frame. The first three Post batters in the seventh singled to produce the run. A leadoff single by Sirko scored on a base hit to left by Wong.

Senior Stephen Corbett (Prospect, Conn.) fell to 3-4 with the loss, while Nyack's Wayne Richardson earned a complete game victory to move to 3-3 this year. Corbett allowed nine hits, and three runs, one of which was earned in six innings. He fanned four Warriors' batters.
