PREVIEW: Baseball Welcomes Nyack To Municipal Stadium Saturday Afternoon

Eagles To Play Back-To-Back CACC Doubleheaders At Home



WATERBURY, Conn. - The Post University baseball team begins a pair of Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) doubleheaders on Saturday afternoon, when the Eagles host Nyack at Municipal Stadium. First pitch of the series opener is slated for noon.
 
The Eagles are coming off a one-run win at Bridgeport on Wednesday to split the regular season series with the Purple Knights. Junior Alexandre Beland notched the game-winning double in the eighth inning and scored Bobby Rodriguez and James Wong. Additionally, classmate Todd Blair notched his 100th career hit on a one-out single to right field in the seventh. 

GAME NOTES:
THE SERIES WITH NYACK:

Post University enters Saturday's matchups with an 8-9 record against Nyack since the 2006 season. Since last season, the Eagles have won all three meetings, all of which have come on the road.
 
ON THE BUMP: CUTLER RUBY AND STEPHEN CORBETT
Cutler Ruby and Stephen Corbett are projected to start the first and second games of the doubleheader, respectively. Ruby stands at 2-1 with a 1.97 ERA. In 51.2 innings of work, Ruby has fanned 42 batters. Corbett enters Saturday with a 3-3 record and a 3.16 ERA. He has pitched 51.1 innings and has 42 strikeouts.  The duo leads Post in innings pitched and strikeouts.
 
100 HITS:
With a one-out single to right field on Wednesday, junior Todd Blair became the latest Post baseball player to join the 100 hit club. He became the 14th player in program history to record 100 hits.
 
BREAKOUT WEEK FOR WONG:
After a 7-for-19 week at the plate with a double, home run and five RBIs, senior James Wong increased his batting average by 23 points last week. He tallied three two-hit games and added four RBIs in the 8-7 win over the University of the Sciences.
 
ON THE HORIZON:
The Eagles will host Caldwell on Tuesday, April 24 in a CACC doubleheader slated for noon.
