Eagles Clipped In CACC Doubleheader At Concordia, 4-1, 5-2

BRONXVILLE, N.Y. – The Post University baseball team fell to 11-24 overall and 4-10 in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) play after the Eagles were swept in a conference doubleheader at Concordia on Tuesday afternoon. Post was plagued by five errors in a 4-1 game one loss, while it dropped the finale 5-2 at Clipper Baseball Field.
 
Game One: Concordia 4, Post 1
Concordia used three unearned runs in the first two innings to take a 3-0 lead. Erik Poldroo hit an RBI double to right center to plate the Clippers' leadoff man, Jason Berrios, who reached on an error by the third baseman.
 
Post scored its only run of the game in the top of the third. After senior James Wong (Brooklyn, N.Y.) drew a one out walk, he advanced to third on a double by sophomore Kevin Fearon (Williston Park, N.Y.) to put runners on second and third. Junior Bobby Rodriguez (Carmel, N.Y.) drove in Wong with a sacrifice fly to right field. The Eagles loaded the bases after junior Alexandre Beland (Trios-Riviere, Quebec) was hit by a pitch and freshman Erik Rodriguez (Miami, Fla.), but junior Todd Blair (Ajax, Ontario) flew out to left field to end the frame.
 
Berrios added an insurance run for Concordia (10-28, 8-8 CACC) in the eighth. He led the inning off with a double and scored on a sacrifice fly by Luis Gonzalez.
 
Junior Kevin Collinge (Chandler, Ariz.) fell to 1-3 this season for Post. He pitched a complete game, allowed seven hits, four runs, one of which was earned. Collinge added four strikeouts. Felix Lopez earned his second win of the season for the Clippers, while Ted Robertson picked up his second save of the season.
 
Game Two: Concordia 5, Post 2
After the Clippers took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first, the Eagles seized their first lead of the afternoon in the top of the fourth. Beland led off the inning with a single up the middle. Blair followed it up with a two-run home run to left field to give Post a 2-1 lead.
 
Concordia tied the game at 2-2 in the bottom of the fifth on a sacrifice fly by Berrios. The Clippers took a 3-2 lead, one it would not relinquish, an inning later. The eventual game-winning run was scored by Cristian Fiorito on a single through the right side by David Perlleshi.
 
Freshman Taylor Carr (St. Thomas, Ontario) suffered the loss for Post and dropped to 2-2 this season. Carr tossed six innings and allowed eight hits and three earned runs. Anthony Pisano got the complete game win for Concordia. He fanned 10 Eagles and improved to 5-4 on the season.
 
Post will wrap up the season series with Bridgeport on Wednesday, April 18. First pitch of the road contest is scheduled for 3 p.m.
