BLOOMFIELD, N.J. –
Entering the day with 99 career wins, head coach Tracey Garofalo eclipsed 100 career wins after the Post University softball team earned a sweep at Bloomfield on Sunday afternoon. The Eagles won the first game 8-2, and took the night cap 5-1, to complete the weekend 3-1 in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) games.

Junior Lianna May (King Ferry, N.Y.) went 6-for-8 at the plate and extended her hitting streak to 14 straight games in the process. Sophomore Stephanie DeMartino (Staten Island, N.Y.) and May both finished the opener with three hits apiece. As a team, the Eagles notched a season-high 17 hits in game one.

Game One: Post 8, Bloomfield 2
The Eagles jumped out to a 6-0 lead after the top of the fourth. After the first three Post (14-28, 12-12 CACC) reached base, DeMartino used an RBI groundout to plate May, and the game's first run. Senior Amy Mantha (Agawam, Mass.) drove a two-RBI triple to score sophomores Jackie Bonamassa (Staten Island, N.Y.) and Casey Sclafani (Brooklyn, N.Y.).

The Eagles increased their lead to 4-0 in the top of the second on an RBI single by DeMartino. Senior Samantha Pagano (Marlboro, N.Y.) scored after a one-out single put her on base. In the fourth, a bases loaded walk by Mantha drove in Bonamassa, while sophomore Christina Udris (Levittown, Pa.) scored Sclafani.

Bloomfield scored two times in the top of the fifth, to cut its deficit to 6-2; however, Post added a pair of insurance runs in the seventh. Sclafani and DeMartino recorded RBIs after May and Bonamassa scored runs.

Junior Ashley Cummings (Stafford, Va.) earned the win for the Eagles. She pitched a complete game and recorded three strikeouts and one walk. Cummings earned her team-best sixth win of the season in the circle.

Game Two: Post 5, Bloomfield 1
After Alexandria Smith led the game off with a home run for the Deacons, the Eagles tied the game in the fourth. DeMartino led the frame off with a double and she was plated by Mantha one batter later to level the score at 1-1. Post took a 2-1 lead on a sacrifice fly to left field by DeMartino that drove in Bonamassa.

The Eagles added three insurance runs in the seventh. A two-RBI single by Sclafani drove in Pagano and May, while Udris added a two-out RBI single to cap the inning.

Junior Johanna Rice (Glendale, N.Y.) earned her fifth victory of the season in the circle. She pitched a complete game and scattered six hits and allowed one earned run.
