FORT PIERCE, Fla. – Chestnut Hill's Desmond Lites scored the go-ahead run in the top of the 13th inning on an RBI single by Mike McLaughlin to give the Griffins an 8-7 win in a non-conference game over the Post University baseball team on Wednesday. Freshmen Taylor Carr (St. James, Ontario) and Erik Rodriguez (Miami, Fla.) had three hits a piece on the day.

Post erased a three-run deficit over the final two innings of the game. Trailing 7-4 in the eighth, Erik Rodriguez scored on a James Wong (Brooklyn, N.Y.) sacrifice fly, while Bobby Rodriguez (Carmel, N.Y.) was driven in by junior Alex Villar (Mesa, Ariz.).

Erik Rodriguez drove in the game-tying run in the bottom of the ninth on an RBI double down the left field line. He plated junior Alexandre Beland (Trois-Riviere, Quebec) who was hit by a pitch to start the inning. Beland moved to second on a successful sacrifice bunt by junior Joe Diz (Albuquerque, N.M.). The run tied the score at 7-7 and put the game into extra innings.

After Chestnut Hill (3-6) stormed out to a 5-0 lead after its half of the fourth inning, Post scored a pair of runs in each of the fifth and sixth innings to cut the deficit to 5-4. Junior Todd Blair (Ajax, Ontario) drove in sophomore Kevin Fearon (Williston Park, N.Y.) on a triple. Fearon crossed the plate on a sacrifice fly to center field by Villar. Carr also tripled in the inning.

In the bottom of the sixth, an RBI groundout by Fearon and a run scoring single by Wong accounted for the Eagles' scoring in the frame. Fearon plated Diz, while Bobby Rodriguez scored on the Wong base hit.

Post used five pitchers on the day and sophomore Nick Bologna (Wantagh, N.Y.) suffered the loss. He pitched the final two innings of the contest.

The Eagles will be back in action on Friday, March 9, when they take on Ohio Valley. First pitch is scheduled for 7 p.m.
