Softball Silenced In Sweep At Felician

Casey Sclafani Has Seven-Game Hit Streak Snapped In Game Two

LYNDHURST, N.J. – The Post University softball team scored just one run as the Eagles were swept in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) doubleheader at Felician on Friday. Post dropped game one 9-1 and game two 8-0 as both games were halted after five innings.
 
Sophomore Casey Sclafani (Brooklyn, N.Y.) had her seven-game hit streak snapped in game two as Post (8-20, 6-6 CACC) was held to one hit in the nightcap. Sclafani went 1-for-2 in game one. In addition to a fourth inning single, she reached on an error in the second. Classmate Stephanie DeMartino (Staten Island, N.Y.) went 2-for-3 with an RBI in the opener.
 
Game One: Felician 9, Post 1 – 5 Innings
The Eagles opened the scoring and pushed a run across in the top of the first. After a single by sophomore Jackie Bonamassa (Staten Island, N.Y.) with one out, she advanced to second on an error by the left fielder. Bonamassa moved to third base on a ground out by sophomore Christina Udris (Levittown, Pa.). DeMartino placed an RBI single through the right side to score Bonamassa.
 
The Golden Falcons plated nine runs in the bottom of the fifth to end the game. During the inning Grace Keller laced a one-out, two-RBI double to right center, while consecutive two-out triples by Alyssa Banca and Aimee Lopez produced three more runs. Felician sent 12 batters to the plate in the frame.
 
Junior Johanna Rice (Glendale, N.Y.) fell to 4-10 with the loss.
 
Game Two: Felician 8, Post 0 – 5 Innings
Felician (4-24, 2-6 CACC) scored four runs in the bottom of the first in the nightcap. Ciera Clark and Taylor Parker had an RBI single and RBI double, respectively, while Keller plated two runs on a double to center field.
 
Parker tallied three RBIs in the first two innings. She plated another pair of runs in the bottom of the second with a double down the right field line. After two innings, the Golden Falcons led 7-0. Felician tacked on one more run in the fourth to take an eight-run lead.
 
Senior Samantha Pagano (Marlboro, N.Y.) posted the Eagles' lone hit of the contest in the top of the fifth with two outs to break up a no-hit bid by Felician starter Kristen Tenwolde. Tenwolde retired the first seven batters of the game.
 
Junior Ashley Cummings (Stafford, Va.) suffered the loss in the circle and fell to 4-8 this year.
 
Post will be on the road at Holy Family on Tuesday, April 3, for a CACC doubleheader. First pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m.
