POMONA, N.Y. – Behind a complete game three-hitter from junior pitcher John Jeanes (Hatchechubbee, Ala.) and a two-RBI single by senior Russell Sirko (Danbury, Conn.) in the eighth, the Post University baseball team rallied to beat Nyack on the road Tuesday afternoon at Provident Bank Park.

The Eagles scored four runs in the final two innings of the game to secure the win, which was the eighth of the season for Post and second for Jeanes. He retired 12 straight batters at one point in the contest. The stretch started in the bottom of the second and continued into the sixth inning. Jeanes set down the Warriors in order in the third, fourth and fifth innings.

After Jeanes retired the Warriors in order to end the eighth, junior Bobby Rodriguez (Carmel, N.Y.) began the Eagles' half of the ninth with a leadoff walk. Rodriguez advanced to second on a throwing error by the Nyack catcher, and the leading run stood 90 feet from home plate after Rodriguez tagged up on an Erik Rodriguez (Miami, Fla.) fly out.

Junior Joe Diz (Albuquerque, N.M.) was intentionally walked and stole second to put the winning run in scoring position with one out. Bobby Rodriguez scored the eventual game-winning run on a wild pitch and Diz advanced to third on the same play. A two-out RBI single by Todd Blair (Ajax, Ontario) made the score 5-3 as Diz scored from third on the play.

With Nyack leading 3-1 in the eighth, and with two outs, junior Chase Loudenback (Hutchinson, Kan.) was hit by a pitch to put runners on first and second. Loudenback and classmate Alexandre Beland (Trois-Riviere, Quebec) advanced to second and third, respectively, on a wild pitch. After sophomore Kevin Fearon (Williston Park, N.Y.) went in to pinch run for Loudenback, Sirko drove a two-out base hit to score both runs and tie the score at 3-3.

Post will return to action at Municipal Stadium on Thursday, March 29, when the Eagles host #19 Le Moyne in a non-conference game. First pitch is slated for 3 p.m. Admission to all Post baseball games is FREE and open to the public.
