LYNDHURST, N.J. – The Post University baseball team returned to the win column, and snapped a four-game losing streak as it split a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) doubleheader at Felician on Sunday. Junior Bobby Rodriguez (Carmel, N.Y.) tallied three RBIs in game one, while classmate Joe Diz (Albuquerque, N.M.) drove in four runs on the day.

In total, the Eagles tallied four extra base hits in the twinbill, including three triples. Rodriguez and junior Todd Blair (Ajax, Ontario) tallied triples in game one, while junior Alex Villar (Mesa, Ariz.) notched a three-base hit in the nightcap.

Game One: Post 7, Felician 6
Post (7-14, 2-4 CACC) tallied all seven of its runs in the second and third innings, and included a five-run third to take the lead for good. The Eagles scored twice in the second on a one-out triple by Rodriguez. Freshman Taylor Carr (St. Thomas, Ontario) was hit by a pitch to start the frame, and was bunted to second on a sacrifice by senior Russell Sirko (Danbury, Conn.). After junior Sam Sena (Albuquerque, N.M.) walked, Rodriguez drove a triple to right field to give the Eagles a 2-0 lead.

After Felician plated three runs in the bottom of the second to take a 3-2 lead, Post sent 10 batters to the plate in the top of the third. After a leadoff triple to centerfield by Blair, the Eagles took advantage of a pair of Felician errors to start the scoring. Diz keyed the frame with a two-RBI single to left center, which drove in Sena from third and Sirko from second. Following the five-run third, Post held a 7-3 lead.

The Falcons attempted to rally in the sixth after it plated two runs on a single by Joe Petosa cut the deficit to 7-5. Felician scored once more in the eighth to pull within one, but Post starter Cutler Ruby (Diboll, Texas) and junior Kevin Collinge (Chandler, Ariz.) combined to shut the door for the Eagles.

Ruby tossed the first eight innings and scattered four hits, but allowed six runs, three of which were earned. He struck out eight Felician batters. After he allowed the first three batters to reach in the bottom of the second, Ruby retired the next 12 batters consecutively through the end of the fifth.

Collinge pitched the ninth and earned his first save of the season. After he allowed a single, Collinge struck out the final three batters of the game. The last two outs were caught looking at called third strikes from Collinge.

Game Two: Felician 5, Post 2
After Felician (10-14, 3-1 CACC) jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first on an RBI triple by Petosa, the Eagles quickly grabbed a 2-1 lead in the top of the second. Diz used a two-RBI single down the right field line to score Sena and Sirko. The nightcap marked the third multi-RBI game of the season for Diz.

However, the Falcons scored four times in the fifth, sixth and seventh innings to seize control of the game.

Despite an eight-strikeout performance, senior Stephen Corbett (Prospect, Conn.) suffered the loss and fell to 2-3 this year. He pitched seven innings and allowed eight hits and three earned runs.
