WATERBURY, Conn. – The Eagles fell out of a first-place tie with Dominican as the Chargers defeated Post in both games of Friday afternoon's doubleheader at LaMoy Field. Senior Kim Bentson (Brewster, N.Y.) had her first three-hit game of the season in game one.

Bentson and sophomore Jackie Bonamassa (Staten Island, N.Y.) led the Eagles with three hits apiece on the afternoon. Junior Lianna May (King Ferry, N.Y.) and senior Samantha Pagano (Marlboro, N.Y.) drove in Post's only two runs in the series.

Game One – Dominican 5, Post 2
A first inning home run by catcher Ashley Corrao capped a four-run inning for the Chargers as they took game one 5-2. Dominican opened the inning with a double and had its first two on after an error by the Eagles. Deidre Jeppson hit a single to drive in two runs. The Chargers added one more before the home run.

May led off the home half of the first with a single. She advanced to third on a throwing error, as the Eagles had runners on the corners with one out. A strikeout and a groundout ended the Post threat.

The Chargers added another run in the fourth to extend their advantage to 5-0. Post threatened again in the bottom of the inning, after a single by Bentson put runners on first and second with one out. Senior Cassidie Ern (Hope Valley, R.I.) lined into a double-play to end the inning.

The Eagles got on the board in the sixth. Sophomore Casey Sclafani (Brooklyn, N.Y.) led off with a single to extend her hit streak to six games. Bentson picked up her third hit of the game with a single to centerfield. Ern was hit by a pitch to load the bases with one out.

Pagano drove in the first run for Post. The Eagles added one more as May grounded to second base. All runners were safe as the Chargers second baseman missed the tag on Pagano advancing to second. May was picked off at second to end the inning with the Eagles trailing 5-2.

Junior Johanna Rice (Glendale, N.Y) shut down the Chargers in order in the seventh. The Eagles couldn't score in the bottom of the inning after a leadoff double by senior Amy Mantha (Agawam, Mass.).

Game Two – Dominican 2, Post 0

Post threatened early in game two as the first two batter got on in the bottom of the first inning. May drew a walk and advanced to second on a hit by Bonamassa. The Eagles were unable to score in the inning, but held the Chargers hitless through the first two frames.

Junior Ashley Cummings (Stafford, Va.) struck out the first batter of the third. Three out of the next four Chargers' batters hit singles to load the bases with two outs. Jeppson hit a infield single to drive in the only two Dominican runs. Cummings ended the threat with her second strikeout of the frame.

Bonamassa singled in the bottom of the inning, but was Post's only baserunner until the seventh, as the Chargers sat down 10 straight Eagles.

Sophomore Stephanie DeMartino (Staten Island, N.Y.) led off the seventh with a double to shallow left field. Sclafani walked and sophomore Christina Udris (Levittown, Pa.) was hit by a pitch to load the bases with no outs. Ern popped her first pitch up to the catcher. Bentson hit a shallow flyout to centerfield. Pagano battled to full count before grounding out to the shortstop as the Eagles were shutout for the third time this season.

Post will be back in action tomorrow afternoon as they travel to Georgian Court for a doubleheader. First pitch is set for 1 p.m.
