NEWARK, N.J. – The Post University baseball team fell to 1-3 in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) play after the Eagles were swept by the Bloomfield Deacons in a doubleheader on Tuesday at Westside Park. Post dropped game one 9-2 and lost the second game 6-3.

Offensively, the Eagles totaled eight hits in the pair of games, while junior starting pitchers Kevin Collinge (Chandler, Ariz.) and John Jeanes (Hatchechubbee, Ala.) each hurled six innings on the mound. Jeans suffered the loss in game one, while Collinge did not factor into the decision in game two.

Game One: Bloomfield 9, Post 2
With the Deacons leading 1-0 in the bottom of the sixth, Bloomfield notched a three-run sixth and a five-run seventh to take a 9-0 lead. A two-RBI single with no outs by Kevin Caraballo helped the host Deacons in the frame. Caraballo finished game one 2-for-4 with three RBIs.

Post answered with a pair of runs in the top of the eighth to cut the deficit to seven runs. The first three batters – senior Russell Sirko (Danbury, Conn.), junior Sam Sena (Albuquerque, N.M.) and junior Chase Loudenback (Hutchinson, Kan.) - reached on a base hit, a single and a double respectively. Loudenback's double brought around pinch runner Kevin Fearon (Williston Park, N.Y.) to score. After a walk by junior Joe Diz (Albuquerque, N.M.) loaded the bases with no outs, senior James Wong (Brooklyn, N.Y.) hit a sacrifice fly to centerfield which drove in Sena.

Jeanes suffered the loss and fell to 1-2 on the season. He pitched six innings, allowed four hits, four runs, three of which were earned, and struck out one batter. Eric Kamp was credited with the win for Bloomfield after he pitched the first eight innings and surrendered three hits, three walks and two earned runs.

Game Two: Bloomfield 6, Post 3
The Eagles jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the nightcap by the top of the sixth inning. Post got on the board in the top of the fourth with a two-run inning. Junior Todd Blair (Ajax, Ontario) started the inning with a single. After an Alex Villar (Mesa, Ariz.) double plated Blair, Villar moved to third on a throwing error by the catcher. Post took a 2-0 lead on an RBI groundout by Loudenback that drove in Villar.

Wong gave the Eagles a 3-0 advantage in the top of the sixth after he was driven in on an RBI single by freshman Taylor Carr (St. James, Ontario).

However, Bloomfield rallied and scored the final six runs of the game to sweep the twinbill. A three-run sixth by the Deacons leveled the score at 3-3, and Bloomfield took the lead for good in the seventh on an RBI base hit by Michael Judd, Jr.

Post (6-12, 1-3 CACC) will step away from conference play when it travels to New Haven for a contest against the University of New Haven Chargers on Wednesday, March 21. First pitch is slated for 3 p.m.
