ALBANY, N.Y. –
The Post University softball team's losing streak extended to eight games on Wednesday after the Eagles lost a non-conference doubleheader at Saint Rose. Post's seventh inning rally in game one fell short, as the Eagles lost 5-4, and Saint Rose rallied to win game two 7-6 at Cummings Haker Field.

Sophomore Jackie Bonamassa (Staten Island, N.Y.) finished the day 2-for-3 at the plate with two walks and an RBI. She is currently on a five-game hitting streak, which is the longest of the season for all players. Additionally, sophomore Christina Udris (Levittown, Pa.) hit 3-for-7 with a run scored and two RBIs.

Game One: Saint Rose 5, Post 4
The Eagles entered the top of the seventh with a 5-2 deficit. Sophomore Stephanie DeMartino (Staten Island, N.Y.) was the first of four straight players to reach base. DeMartino, classmate Casey Sclafani (Brooklyn, N.Y.) and senior Kim Bentson (Brewster, N.Y.) singled, while Udris reached on a fielding error. Bentson plated DeMartino on a base hit to cut the deficit to 5-3. Senior Samantha Pagano (Marlboro, N.Y.) drove in Brandi Davis (Magnolia, Del.), but on the same play Bentson was thrown out at the plate to end the game.

Post scored in the top of the first on an RBI single from DeMartino. She drove in junior Lianna May (King Ferry, N.Y.) with two outs on a base to center field.

Saint Rose responded with a trio of runs in the home half of the first and second innings. Kari Bird plated the pair of runs in the first on a two-RBI single that drove in Lindsey David and Kayla Kuilema. The Golden Knights also got home runs from Alexis Williams and Rachel Reed in the second and sixth innings, respectively.

Junior Johanna Rice (Glendale, N.Y.) suffered her sixth straight loss to start the season. She threw a complete game and struck out two batters.

Game Two:
Despite a single-inning season-high four runs in the top of the fourth, Saint Rose (4-9) rallied to earn a walk-off win in the bottom of the seventh. In the bottom of the seventh, the Golden Knights got a three-run home run from Rachel Reed to tie the score at 6-6, and erased a 6-3 deficit. The game-winning run was driven in by Jessica Butterbrodt on a flare base hit down the left field line, which plated Olivia Reeves.

During the Post (1-11) half of the fourth, the Eagles sent 10 batters to the plate. DeMartino, senior Amy Mantha (Agawam, Mass.), Udris and sophomore Rebecca Erb (Yardley, Pa.) crossed the plate, while Erb and Pagano notched RBIs.

With the Eagles trailing 2-1 at the start of the fourth, the first seven batters of the inning reached base. DeMartino was hit by a pitch, Mantha walked and a single by Udris loaded the bases. Erb drove in DeMartino after Udris' at bat, while Pagano was credited with an RBI and reached on a fielding error by shortstop Marisa Bird. After three-and-a-half innings of play, Post held a 5-2 lead.

After Saint Rose scored in the bottom of the sixth to cut the Post lead to 5-3, the Eagles responded with a run of their own to grow the lead back to three runs. A run-scoring single by Udris drove in Mantha to give Post a 6-3 advantage.

Sophomore Alysha Pieta (Middletown, Conn.) suffered the loss and allowed the game-winning run in game two.

Post will begin the home portion of its schedule on Sunday, March 18, when it hosts Philadelphia in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest. First pitch of the twinbill is slated for 1 p.m.
