MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – Despite nine hits in the game, the Post University baseball team suffered a 3-1 setback against Molloy in the Eagles' final game in the Northeast Challenge at the Ripken Experience on Sunday. Junior Todd Blair (Ajax, Ontario) went 3-for-5 at the plate for Post.

After three innings of play, Molloy (5-2) led 3-0 after RBI singles by Kris Kelly, Carmine Pellechia and John Jarosz.

Post (1-4) got on the board in the top of the fourth inning to cut its deficit to two runs, 3-1. After senior Russell Sirko (Danbury, Conn.) drew a one out walk, classmate James Wong (Brooklyn, N.Y.) drove a double to advance Sirko to third base on the play. Sirko scored from third base on a passed ball during an Alexandre Beland (Trios-Riviere, Quebec) at bat.

In the Eagles' half of the sixth, Post had the tying run in scoring position with one out after a Beland sacrifice bunt moved Kevin Fearon (Williston Park, N.Y.) to third and Wong to second. However, the next two Post batters struck out looking to end the frame.

Patrick Brown earned the win for Molloy after he threw four shutout innings of relief. Junior Kevin Collinge (Chandler, Ariz.) suffered the loss for Post. He went the first 6.2 innings, allowed nine hits and three earned runs. Collinge struck out six, including two in the second inning.

The Eagles will return to the diamond on Friday, March 2, at St. Thomas Aquinas. First pitch is slated for 3 p.m.
